  • I used up some uncooked fudge that DD made, basically it has condensed milk, icing sugar and butter so I mashed it into a pound of overipe bananas and added an egg and 80z flour and 6oz dried fruit and baked it, very nice banoffee type cake!

Found 2 bags of Asda's Ranch Salad - shredded courgette, carrot, onion and red cabbage - in the back of the fridge (bought them on Monday reduced to 20p from £1).

They were not fresh enough to actually use as salad so have added them to minced beef as the basis for my cottage pie. They have bulked up the mince beautifully and so will probably stretch it to an extra portion or so :D.

As we have been snowed in here since Tuesday with no likelihood of getting out in the next few days, I am trying extra hard not to waste a single thing.

    Hi everyone

Any ideas about what I can do with left over roast pheasant plus bones; etc? Also...I have been sorting out the fridge and I found two pots of cottage cheese which is slightly out of date...well, actually nearly a month out of date. Any ideas about that?
    Thanks

    Here's some pheasants recipes.suggestions

    Cottage cheese

Ham and puff pastry. Do you have any creme cheese? LIttle parcels of creme cheese and ham and some herbs? Like little pasties - onion would go nice in too, as would tomato.

Ham and chicken pie with a white sauce?

Puff pastry - what can I make?

Chuck the cottage cheese unless you want home grown penicillin!
Pheasant and bones - I'd make stock, then perhaps risotto or a sauce for pasta.

Spring onions and lettuce can't be frozen but if you put them into plastic bags, squeeze out any excess air and clip the bags shut, they'll keep in the fridge for longer than you think.

If you don't have or can't get clips, try using clothes pegs - they work fine if you twist the bag hard first!
