I keep the eggwhites in the freezer in a pot, just top it up when I have another one. Wait till it looks a goodly ammount and then its Pavlova day...

Any wine that is a bit 'yucky' goes into the kitchen (no this doesn't happen often)...then gets used in things (today Moussaka)

Mashed potato becomes fishcakes

cheese (going off) into sauces (yes I just grate the blue bits too) ooops!!

Bath foam that I couldn't stand became toilet cleaner...

Leftover cat food - goes outside any waifs and strays tuck in - this makes it instantly delicous to my own cats!!

Try melting the toffee with some cream in a pan and serve over icecream as a fudgy sauce? Could chuck some chocolate in as well.

Used up the last of the roast chicken from sunday. Yesterday we had chicken pie and today was a delicious (even though I say so myself) chicken soup with chinese noodles. My girls had two bowls each. Three meals from one chicken - am very pleased with myself! :j

Hi can anyone help me?

Our local shop is very good at giving away goods that are past their use by date away at 10p per item. I have had some great finds in their reductions box, most of which I manage to use.
However, I got three bars of brazil nut toffee a while back, the toffee is really hard and I do not want to break my teeth eating it!
So was thinking of perhaps making a flapjack type thing with the toffee, does anyone have a suitable recipe for making flapjacks this way rather from scratch?
Or does anyone have another suggestions of what I can use the toffee for?
Thanks in advance :D

nthere are some recipes on this thread - no flapjack ones though http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1425029

Had a portion of mash left over from last night's lamb chop extravaganza (very yummy they were too...).

So for lunch I mashed a can of tuna, some chopped spring onion (that was going a bit wilty but don't tell anyone...) and some chilli flakes and made fishcakes.

They were delicious with a huge salad.

I thought there'd be quite a lot, but they all seem to have vanished...

What leftovers? :T

I make this "shepherds" pie with leftover pork, would be okay without the veg, receipe from New York Times cookbook, easy to scale up or down depending on how much meat you have left, i usually omit the wine

1Ib cooked lean pork or lamb, cut into ¼ inch cubes
2 tbspn butter
1 cup finely chopped onion
at least ¼ cup each finely chopped carrot and celery
2 tbspn finely chopped parsley
3 tbspn flour
2 tbspn tomato puree
½ cup dry white wine
1 ½ cup chicken stock
1 tspn Worcestershire sauce
freshly ground pepper
1 cup sweet corn
2 or more cups mashed potato
½ cup grated cheddar cheese,

(1) Preheat oven to 350F, 180C, Gas 4
(2) Heat butter in a saucepan, add onions, carrots, celery and parsley, cook stirring until onions are soft
(3) Sprinkle with flour and stir with wire whisk
(4) Add tomato paste, wine, stock, Worcestershire sauce and pepper, stirring rapidly with whisk
(5) Simmer for 10 minutes, stir in meat and corn. Cook for further 5 minutes
(6) Put meat and sauce in 7 cup baking dish or casserole, cover with potato and cheese
(7) Place in oven and bake for 30-45 mins until piping hot and cheese melted
