Just thought I'd share one of my new concoctions. We always have the round toffees from tins of Quality Street leftover so, I just melted them down with a tin of condensed milk added some chopped cooking apples which were well past their best, put all of this gooey mixture into a pastry case and baked in the oven until golden brown........OMG it was gorgeous!
No need to pull all our fillings out with the toffees or chuck them in the bin anymore.0 -

I know, it's soooo bad for him, I get stomach ache if I have more than 1 glass of it a day. I have heard that Coke is good for cleaning and they're pretty much the same thing so thanks for that :T I'm just going to go and get him a glass now....let's see if he notices
ETA - He didn't say anything but I tasted it before I gave it him and it's horrible, no fizz AT ALL and just doesn't taste nice, I feel a bit meanBut if he doesn't like something he does usually say so he mustn't be able to tell the difference

Oh! lol - now you can start gradually mixing it in with tesco coke, see if he notices that! :rotfl:''A moment's thinking is an hour in words.'' -Thomas Hood0 -

Making marmalade today. (Seville oranges have started to appear in the shops). Have saved up all my orange, lemon and tangerine peel over the Christmas period so I have lots of extra fruity skin pieces to add to the contents and make it even more tasty..0

Hi everyone. I'm going to try really hard this year not to throw food away. I'm pretty good already but I do throw a few bits occasionally and have decided this has to stop! I had some friends over for a fondue last week and have used the leftover cheese and veg but I still have a bag full of cut up chunks of french bread. They are now slightly stale but I'm sure they could be used for something. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your help.0

White Boots - If you store your french bread chunks in a plastic bag, slightly moisten them and reheat in a hot oven they will be OK to eat. Alternatively you can toast them under the grill, coated with a little cheese and they will still make a filling snack. The other thing you can do with them is slice them VERY thinly and completely dry them out in a low warm oven next time it's on, and turn them into Melba Toast.0

You can make stock from peelings?!?! I never thought of that! Sorry to be thick, but which veggie peelings do you use? Also, just thought, aren't all the pestacide toxins in the skins and thats why you need to peel carrots ect?£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190 -

Hi there
Quite proud of myself.
Used up a few soft apples, some wrinkled satsumas and half a jar of mincemeat in a crumble! Dished it up with some out of date nat yog just for a bit of adventure.
We are all still healthy today, will have the rest tonight!
I think I may enjoy this and have a go at the peelings stock!
