well I failed miserably on the dtfa challenge this week... went to Sainsbugs on Saturday morning, got two pineapples for £250 and some tomatoes... don't normally shop there but I needed Manuka honey for DS and theirs is cheaper than Holland and Barrett..
anyway, one of the pineapples was fine, but on Monday noticed the other was "fizzing" from the side and when I cut it, it stunk like a brewery... it was FERMENTING!!
Then this morning went to cut some toms for my lunch and they had little winter coats on!
Suffice to say they've all been binned.
Really really annoyed.:mad:0 -

Now I know food prices are going up but that is a little expensive for a pineapple... No wonder you're annoyed!;)

Sally - phone Sainsburys to complain, leave your name and ask for a refund on your next visit. Rotten fruit seems to happen fairly often with Sainsburys. Sometimes not their fault but often caused by not being checked regularly and they will usually give a refund if you phone and let them know immediately. Keeping your till receipt will be useful evidence that you've actually bought the stuff there. Money is being earned too hard and taxed too heavily these days to waste it on rotten food.0

Lame Wolf - the best way of ensuring that you get good quality produce from a market stall is to wait until there are a lot of people in the queue and then say in a very loud voice " I'm getting very disappointed with the quality of your vegetables. You've sold me several lots of mouldy products lately so can I check everything before it goes in the bag please?"
If the stallholders have a regular pitch, they won't want this kind of bad publicity any more than a supermarket would. Just depends how brave you are. I find they tend to remember the "assertive" people and are more careful what they serve you in future. Bet nobody would serve Hyacinth Bouquet rotten vegetables a second time !!0 -
Hi, I wonder whether anyone can help. I have just put all the ingredients in my breadmaker only to realise when its too late that I forgot to put the yeast in!!!!. Is there anything I can do with the dough? It seems a shame to have to throw it.Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance....0

I would think you could use it for pizza bases, that doesn't need to rise in the same way as bread?
(I made fruit buns without the fruit the otherday! I made everyone eat them anyway)

If I can't be bothered making the breadcrumbs when I see the last hard slice or two, I just freeze the bread then crumble it up from frozen when I need it.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0
