There's no reason at all why Summer Pudding can't be served hot. We have served the leftovters this way. If you like your bread crispy just put it in a hot oven. Reheating in a microwave is fine but it won't make the bread crispy.

never thought of that, good idea - would say that I will try it but if I found I still didn't like it, it would be a waste. I think i'll ask friends if they have any left overs, to save some for me and I'll try it then ;)

    Dinner tonight was ALL leftovers......

Left over HM focaccia turned into pizza - cooked in the remoska was gorgeous!
accompanied by some left over cooked new potatoes and some onions and peppers sliced up and left over from a salad, so fried all these up together along with a handful of petit pois left in the freezer from heaven knows when.......pudding was left over HM yogurt eked out to feed four by adding some chopped strawberries and gooseberries that needed using up.

Bin day today and NO food in it at all! :D

Some wrinkled peppers are going to go on a HM pizza for lunch over the weekend (base pitta bread that has been in the freezer too long).

    But nothing in the bin!

I've got a really hard ciabatta to use up, so I'm thinking about making it into croutons and freezing them, or just breadcrumbs. It'd be nice to use it as food right now, but it only seems good as a truncheon otherwise.

But it won't go in the bin just yet. :) Other than that, nothing for the bin :D

First confession for ages - put one floret of broccoli, two slices of carrot and one potato (all cooked) in the green waste bin today, so at least it won't go to landfill. No idea why DH didn't just eat the veg, and I'd have put the potato in the fridge as DD loves fried potatoes, but that will teach me not to check DH's clearing up. I came down this morning to find them sitting on the utility room window ledge.

Have used a few leftover chickpeas to make HM houmous, though, so maybe that redeems me somewhat. It's very garlicky but very nice.

Anyone know of where we can donate a load of frozen food in the Bath area. My son is about to leave his rented accommodation tomorrow and the freezer is still half full. We have given some to a homeless charity but they had no more room in their freezer and we really don't want to take it to the tip before we leave the place tomorrow lunchtime. Any ideas? Have tried ringing various hostels but can get no reply, presume the phone is only answered when there is some admin staff in.

The thing I am finding more than anything else now is that I rarely get anything that gets to the stage of being "nearly thrown out" these days - as my planning with both the meals we are going to eat and the food I buy in the first place has got so much better.

Having said that, there was one apple left over from the week before last - they weren't all that nice and although the bulk of them got eaten, neither of us fancied that last one. I've just chopped it up, topped it with mango puree from the freezer, and put sponge mix on the top - it's in the oven now so we shall see how it comes out!!

claero a really good tip i learnt with french bread (proper stuff in france) is at night soak a clean t-towel under the cold tap and wring it out..wrap the bread in it then in the morning or at lunch wrap the bread in foil (it will feel pretty damp but dont worry thats ok) and bake in the oven for 10 mins or so.
it comes out like freshly baked bread it's lovely honest (must be even my fussy dad will eat it).since doing this i've never thrown hard french bread away i'd try it with the ciabatta
