I have an avocado, sweetcorn, feta cheese, brie, some defrosted prawns, cooked chicken and bread to use up by thurs lunch. Only me to feed as OH away. Any ideas?
Originonal plan was prawn and avocado cocktails on bread for tea but sweetcorn would be best used tonight as well!
feta says use within 3 days, I know it will prob b ok after that, but how can you tell if feta smells off?hehe.0 -
Hi Phoolgrrrl,
Many of your ingredients would work well in a pasta salad. I've added your question into the 'don't throw food away challenge' as the regulars there are great at coming up with ideas for using up odds and ends.

Phoolgrrl - you could toast the bread and turn it into a sort of bruscetta (sp?) with all the ingredients on the top, except the avocados, they could be a salad to go with it?
If you have more that one "pizza" worth of food, you could leave off the prawns and freeze the spare ones?GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Hi all,
Do any of you know if I can eat beetroot leaves? If so, how?
Also, any ideas for roasted buckwheat. Bought a packet thinking it'd be a bit like bulger wheat or cous cous. It's not, it's disgusting!!!! Needs heavy disguise me thinks :rotfl:
Thanks

you can eat the young beetroot leaves mixed with salad leaves but not sure whether older ones are just inedible or unpalatable
**here we are, there's a bit on here http://www.leighcourtfarm.org.uk/page6/page9/page9.html stir fry older leaves and use young ones in salad or steam lightly **0 -
Thanks! They can go in a stir-fry for tea tomorrow night!Updating soon...0

you'll have to let us know how you get on. Just recently I read somewhere (don't think it was in the above article) that if you sow the seeds close to each other, you can then eat the new shoots when thinning out.0

Hey G&B  I don't often disagree with you, but there are plenty on here who don't need to worry about our food budgets, but do. Sometimes it's simply because of the challenge; sometimes because we feel that it's offensive to waste food when there are so many starving
