Hanging my head in shame! Last week I overbought on the whoopsies, fresh bread and whoopsied fresh milk.
Managed to freeze the whoopsies and milk but the bread wouldn't go in the freezer- consequently half a loaf and a pack of sesame-seeded burger buns have had to head for the bin
. Also failed to use up a large pot of whoopsied yoghourt - got rid of most of it, but when it got to five days ood even I had to draw the line!
I am now giving myself a punishment -
I must empty the freezer before buying any more stuff!

I hope the bread went to the birds and not really into the bin?0 -

mix in with cake or muffin mix or with yoghurt & stewed fruit or as others have said, flapjacks or crumble topping.
The bran flakes and any unsweetened cereal can be combined into minced meat for burgers or cottage pie. Or you could mix with seasoning and use to top cauliflower cheese.0 -
Well I will be having bait consisting of some wrinkly peppers roasted, stirred into rice with a pouch of thai sweet chilli tuna on top
Tea I am going to try and attempt a carrot soup as they really need using.
Then I was thinking I will make some sort of sponge with grapes in the bottom for after. I also have a tin of nectarine halves but this has been open for a week...do we think it is safe to add these to the spong too??Dream of being mortgage free....

Leftovers: Eggs, cooked Ham (or bacon, or gammon), grated cheese, cooked rice, sweetcorn.
Beat eggs and add all other ingredients in whatever quantity you have to make a sloppy mess. It's best to use a strongly flavoured cheese.
Bake in the over at 150 until set and enjoy.
It's like a quiche without the pastry and with rice added to the filling.
I've just had this for my dinner and thought the recipe might be useful for others.
I'm going to do this tonight, it sounds yummmy and I have left over items to use upBreast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

I hope the bread went to the birds and not really into the bin?
Unfortunately, where I live we are surrounded by a building site (our entire estate is currently under redevelopment) - my house was the first new one to be completed. The only birds that we are visited by are sea-gulls and pigeons - neither of which I am trying to encourage into my garden. There are also large numbers of rats (now displaced due to the ground being disturbed so much) so that's another reason why we aren't able to put out food.
We're really looking forward to being able to welcome back our feathered friends once all this work is completed. We hardly have any trees around here at the moment either, due to the demolition work - but as houses are completed, each garden is being given a tree. However, these are young saplings, so won't be much use to the birds for a couple of years. The neighbourhood is due to be completed around 2012!0 -
Oh dear, I thought I was doing so well and even made a tasty (if disgusting green coloured) soup from a load of veggies on Friday. Unfortunately whilst freezing some portions of it I cleared out a chicken breast to put in the fridge to use this week and then went camping. Unfortunately this morning I found a rather gross chicken breast in a little plastic bag sitting on the counter next to the fridge where it had been for 2 days, needless to say it did not smell good and had to go in the bin. So I probably saved 50p of veg and wasted £1 of chicken. WhoopsGod is good, all the time

I'm just curious as to whether anyone would strongly discourage eating pasta past its best before date? I just found two packets of wholemeal spaghetti with a best before of May 2007. I realise that's more than a year now, but I was actually planning on buying some to try soon so it would save me quite a bit.0
