I have two manky looking carrots to use up. Beyond that I don't think I've thrown away anything this week so far *hurrah*0

Thanks, Beans were eaten tonight, with salad from veg box. We only have a couple of potatos and an onion from the veg box left and they'll definately go so that'll be a first that we finish it completely.
Have been a bit slack with recording what we've thrown out so that'll be next months mission!
Thanks for everyones fantastic tips

I have two overripe bannanas but no eggs to make banana bread any ideas?
Its a bit late, but...
You can make banana bread without eggs. Search the internet for eggless banana cake or vegan banana cake and there should be lots of recipes. There may even be one listed on here in the vegan recipe section. If you get stuck I will find one in one of my recipe books.
I prefer to just freeze them and then whizz them with a non frozen banana a vanilla essence to make healthy banana icecream or add other fruit to make other flavour 'ice cream'.
Or just wizz them with water and vanilla essence to make banana milk!
Hope this is of help to someone
Best wishes

I notice some of you wont save left overs from a plate due to worries about bacteria, i have been saving left overs from plate for some time now and never had food poisoning (spell), I use it for curry or casseroles
.
I never knew what to do with left over pasta or rice till i read another thread. Next day for lunch have it cold with chopped onion and some beans, i used a tin of salad beans, it was surprisingly nice and no more wasted pasta and rice... i suppose if you have some tin tomatoes going spare you could give that a spin in the blender with some garlic and put that in it as well.
As for the people who buy to much, only to find you have no room in your fridge or freezer, see if you can do what i do......if you have a nice neighbour who you get on with, ask if they have spare room in theirs to put some stuff in it, I have got some bits in my neighbours freezer at the moment as i couldn't resist the yellow sticker offers  .

Cooked too much pasta last night for tea and was emptying into a container to go into the fridge. Decided that it would only get shoved to the back before being thrown away so it has now been turned into a decent sized bowl of tuna, sweetcorn, pasta mayo. Chilling nicely for today's lunch

I made a fish casserole for Pup the other night & added a bit of coucous as it came out the oven, but he was not that impressed:o But he had to eat the other half yesterday cuz I refused to throw it out.
Thankfully the offspring fancied hot dogs, so I snaffled one of those, chopped it into weenie pieces & stirred it in to the fish........result was a very cleaned bowl!Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

I am finding this thread really great and very insperational so i thought i'd tell you what we had for dinner tonight.
325 grams of mince meat
1 onion
tin toms
tin baked beans
half tin salad beans
few lentils
breadcrumbs
little bit of made up gravy
I made half of this into a cottage pie and the rest i put into the freezer which will make at least another 5 meals. My DD said the cottage pie was really nice (bit of a fussy eater) and my DD is 6ft 3, 16 st and with veg on the side it was enough for him.
For afters i made a crumble out of some wrinkly eating apples we had left and half tin custard that would have gone in the bin  .

morning all!
I know this may sound a bit silly but how do you make stewed fruit? I've got some plums that need using up. I've also got some grapes and necterines - can these be stewed to?

I've never stewed grapes but plums and nectarines should do OK. I just put them into a pyrex dish and put into the microwave for a couple of mins. It's very much trial and error with microwaves (size and amount of fruit, power level of m/w etc), and I would add any sugar when its all nicely softened - sugar and m/w is NOT a good idea. If you do have to put anything back in the m/w once you've added sugar, I would only use short bursts of power and WATCH it very carefully.
I did nectarines a couple of weeks ago and had to remove the skins from the finished product - they had become quite 'papery' and prone to getting you at the back of the throat.0
