I am sorry to hear about your experience Cheryl ... the only person that should be getting hauled over the coals -- if anyone at all -- is the person who decided to let the stands go at 0.01 (if they didn't intend to).

My experience was positive. I went in, they got the stand for me. I went to the check out with it, there were bemused by the price. Thought it was a good deal and bingo .. off I went with my 1p stand.

Perhaps you could try another store?

I ended up going at 5.45pm (near closing time) which was probably helpful. I also printed off the order (so if necessary I could point of the web price guarantee in the T&Cs).

I didn't give them the order though (I didn't want to draw attention to the price) just gave them the order number.

Thanks for everyone's help on this one ... now all we need is a R&R on a TV for it :rotfl:
  • i must be thick or something as i cant find it on the website, does any one have the direct link, or can help me !!!:o
the more people i meet!! the more i like my dog !!;)

    Several more thoughts....

Those that have missed out of the stands is it possible to go to a retailer that price matches?

As you get 3% off via Quidco when buying though Currys, does that roundup? ie, do you actually get 1p off your 1p purchase?

I was going to name and shame but didnt kno if this would affect my complaint.

Sheryldoc in my opinion I dont see how it could affect your complaint given the way you were dealt with and it must have been bad for an old collegue of your OH to take the time to contact you. I bet there will be no security footage of the incident, but if someone had been shoplifting they would produce better playbacks than "Match of The Day" LOL. Good luck with your complaint.

Normally retailers that price match for instance Comet will phone the nearest store and they will price match the item as long as they are in stock before they price match, not sure if every company that price matches checks to see if they are in stock

Could someone please enlighten me on the ins and outs of this i.e. if you've reserved online and have a reservation number, only to be told on arrival that it's a mistake on the website and/or the stand is part of a package with the tv so they couldn't let it go separately anyway, where do you stand.

I would have thought they could easily turn around and say this?

I have a reservation in for a Philips stand that I'll try to pick up tomorrow - is it a case of once I get the email confirmation it's pretty much sorted, or will I still be at the mercy of the individual store's manager?

    Thanks.

Edit - I meant to say to sheryl that I'm sorry to hear of your experience. Over things like this the company should just accept the mistake and put it down to experience IMO. In no way should it ever get to a point where you're being verbally attacked. Glad you got your stands in the end anyway :-)

I suppose your right.. me naming the store doesnt change the way I was treated.

I called my mum n told her and she said when she was in buying a cooker 2 mnths ago.. an older man was trying to return something and the same manager was shouting and bawling at him telling him to leave!

if they had jst said theres been an error im sorry we cant honour this I would have said -

Y didnt someone phone me then and save me the journey.. if its a widely known prob surely sense would be for each stroe too check reservations on the item and contact cust.

If that failed id have thought Fair Enough Shez worth a try and left.

BUT due to a serious lack of communication, management getting staff to tell bare face lies, no 1 knowing how to deal with situation, panic mixed with aggression it escalated into a nitemare for me!..

    Thanx for your support BTW..x

Sheryl, their behaviour was disgraceful. I hope you got names. If there is a problem anywhere it is with their own staff -- both in-store 'service' -- and online shop safe potentially mispricing the product. They do say online 'bag a bargain' so we are only trying to do what they say.

Surely the onus isn't on the customer to try and get them to put their prices up.
