Yes, i think you are right, thanks. I did some digging at it seems that these days, it is normal. So i'll give them some credit for that.

And the excuse as to why the oil was over filled which can damage the engine bores ?
Something my husband asked them as well. They had no answer to that other than it seems miraculously the level has now dropped since leaving here on the AA vehicle. (umm, maybe perhaps they could have removed some? i wonder)Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Arrggghhh!! My pet hate, I've never seen a car that was service by a main agent that hasn't been overfilled!! Why don't they wait for it to drain and then finish filling, no straight in with the book volume, because oil seals love the extra pressure (any 911 owners around ;-)0 -
We have logged the issue with Ford centrally, registering that we don't think adequate action has been taken, and that should another repeat of this fault or a problem related to contamination/overfilling be encountered, we will not be happy and will take the appropriate action.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

I was about to post this - from what I've heard modem diesels turn the oil black almost instantly so I think they're telling the truth on this one.
Yep, I've just had oil and filters changed on my Astra and the oil is black, I've been told it's quite normal and nothing to worry about, however, the other things the OP mentioned are not normal and too much oil or fuel in the oil is potentialy terminal for the engine.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -
Hmmmm. well this isnt the oil service light. Its separate - Fuel in Oil light. Plus, the first oil service/change for this engine is due by 12,500miles, and i'm now at about 9,500. So the light should not have come on so soon. Both the dealership and Ford are refusing to change the oil.0

It'll be 12,500 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first
I thought you posted that Ford were getting onto the dealer to drain, flush and change the oil.
I wouldnt have thought the car can tell 12 months has passed? But 12,500 miles should be able trigger a light, which could then be reset at service. Given the 12,500 miles was not passed, the light should not have triggered.
Ford did indeed offer to pay for the oil to be drain, flush and replace the oil as a courtesy measure. However when Ford called the dealership to discuss it, the dealership refused to do it, saying it was uneccessary, and Ford said if the dealership said no it wasnt needed and didnt want to, then they couldnt make them. :mad:Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

The myth over black oil..
Lazy garages have a device you stick down the dip stick that sucks out the oil, however as most dip sticks have a gauze on the bottom, they only suck out the oil to the level of the bottom of the dipstick, around 3/4 of a litre is left in the sump pan. which just happens to be the 3/4 of a litre full of tar, muck and dirt.
In goes the new oil, key turns, and its all dirty again.
I change my own oil and perform a full sump drain and flush, just like the old days and my mondeo tdci has still got dark golden brown oil 1500 miles later.
When you visit a garage, ask how they remove the old oil, when they start telling you the virtues of this suction machine, just stop and ask them what the sump plug is for and why it is magnetic and should be taken out and have the particles removed from the magnet.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
