Oil check/change at fiesta first service?

Although it may be "Optional" its also FREE - you have 3 years warrenty on your Ford - ask any Ford dealer -and you don't have to go to the dealer you bought it from.
I really hope you are right! Its not the impression that Ford have given me thus far when i purchased, nor when i've spoken to them until now. Customer relationships have committed to calling us back with an update once the car is in and has been looked at, so i'll ask them to confirm one way or the other.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Sounds like someone has put engine flush in....and then forgotten to change the oil, Classic, but they will never admit it.
If it is still around, get a sample of the oil and make sure the dealers know you have got oneHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Interesting thought Vax. Unfortunately the car has already gone so no sample to be taken. If it was being driven with Flush, would the fault light not have come on before now if the service was 2.5 weeks ago and about 300mile more on the clock?Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Well it does not put the light on when you put it in, so I can not answer how far it would go before it did, but flush is diesel based.
What we know
Increased oil level without explanation
Fuel in oil ? hmm
Oil not changed and showing loose particles (which it would as the flush picks them all up) (service spec shows, flush engine change oil, filters)
I would be hard pressed to find another explanation.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I've dug out and checked my bill for the service, and i was billed for £38 worth of Oil, plus new filter assy. So they sure did charge for the oil, even if they didnt do it!
I'm sure an oil change is easy enough to do now, but i'm worried about the damage caused driving round with flush/fuel/whatever in my oil for 300 odd miles.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Even if this car does only have a one year warranty, it was purchased from new so Sale of Goods Act applies here, "goods must last for a reasonable period of time". You would not expect a major failure on a brand new car after a year.

Thanks Lum.
Its a good point. We will wait to see what their diagnosis is. As i said before we are reluctant to accept just another flush and oil change, due to the potential damage from driving it around with contaminated oil. Hubby is of the view that at as well as fixing the cause, the least he wants is an engine strip and rebuild to check for damage. A new engine would probably be quicker for them though!Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Strip and rebuild? Do you really want that muppet who can't even get an oil change right to be taking your engine apart and putting it back together again?
You'd probably find they put the cylinder head back on with an impact wrench and re-fitted the big end shells on backwards and on different cylinders.0 -

Right, so the garage have called back (already), to say its fixed and ready to collect. Apparently all they have done is reset the light. They are saying there is no contamination in the oil. Job done.
No explanation as to why the oil is black and full of particulate (never seen new oil that colour before!).
So, what do we reckon? Accept the car back, or refuse it? It is enough of a pain that this happened whilst i am at home and pregnant, if it happens again in a few months, whilst on the way to the hospital in labour, or whilst out with a newborn, i'm going to be even less impressed at being stranded. And if the engine is knackered and seizes up whilst driving with a baby, even less so!Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!
