    Okay....
So just waiting for the service department to open. Hubby got home too late last night to check for me, so just been out to look at the oil levels.
The ONLY bit of good news is that the level isnt low. Much much worse than that would be, is that it is HIGHER than it ought to be, and the lamp on is now the fuel in oil lamp. The oil on the dipstick was really thick and black looking. Not right at all.

Manual says "get the oil changed asap". No Sh*t sherlock! Not a happy bunny for a car less than 10k old with a diesel engine meant to last for 100k.

Coincidence that this is after the service? Hmmm. I know that I havent put any fuel in the oil tank, so changing the oil doesnt cut it as a solution as far as i'm concerned. Thats the effect not the cause.

Not happy to drive it round the M25 to the garage, so will have to see what they say when i call.

  • I think going by your last post, I would be asking them to come and collect the car with a recovery vehicle, under no circumstances should you drive it.
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world

oh, and i was correct. I checked the service portfolio which confirms that for a fiesta, the warranty is 1 year, unless you PAY for 2 years further ford protect. So the problem is unlikely to be covered by warranty. Not what i need when about to go on mat leave!

Thanks for that- it is what my husband said as well. They wont collect- no recovery vehicles. So my job to get it to them. great isnt it.

UPDATE: They are sending Ford Assist (AA) round to see me, and (hopefully) collect the car. A positive move at last!

Kira000 - you have 3 year warranty - all Ford cards are covered up to 3 years.

    1st year - Ford 2nd year 2 and 3 up to 60,000 Ford dealer -

read the inside page of your service book again.

The Oil Light on is a MAJOR fault these days.
It must not be driven until the cause has been investigated.
If the pressure is low and the car is driven, on that engine, it will explode and the piston will come through the block
    My opinion ?
They have given the car to some idiot or new kid who has poured something in the engine filler instead of the washer bottle or similar .
Ask the AA to document what he sees very carefully in WRITING and recover the vehicle to the dealers by trailer .

    Quoting directly from the book:

From the chart " Fiesta, Warranty type, Base: 1 year, u/l mileage. FP 2 years"

and Below "FP=fordprotect, An OPTIONAL extended warranty providing 2nd and 3rd year's warranty"

Car is being collected by the AA under ford assist any time now. Booked into the same place that serviced it 2.5 weeks ago. My husband has also just spoken to Ford Customer Relationship, who are going to help make sure that whatever is done, is a proper solution, and not just an oil change.

Thanks Vax- its not an oil pressure issue, that light is off. Its the "fuel in Oil" light that is on. Either way, you are right, and Ford And the AA guy both agree, don't drive it. The AA chap also checked the dipstick, like my husband did, and agreed that newly changed oil (less than 3 weeks and 400miles) should not be black and have lots of particulate specks in it.

Recovery truck has just collected. We shall await the conclusion.

Although it may be "Optional" its also FREE - you have 3 years warrenty on your Ford - ask any Ford dealer -and you don't have to go to the dealer you bought it from.
