Personally (and I'm speaking as a parent not a teacher) I would prefer no notice or short notice inspections. I would like to base my choice of school on a true representation of the school. Not "how much work they can get done in 4 weeks notice"

I know teachers are under a lot of pressure and I'm fine with the fact that not all their paperwork will be in place etc but I don't like the idea of a potentially bad school working their teachers to the max in 4 weeks because of shoddy management.

    Sorry my opinion. X

Totally agree:) I think I said I would prefer a call on the day...........if you are doing your job and you have nothing to hide an hours notice gives you time to pick up the coats in the cloakroom and sharpen the pencils IMO........this is how it was done when I first started BTW Starnac. I have no fears. They will have no idea of what we do and will find it difficult as we dont fit into a mould........remember I work with a box of frogs most of the time, biting hissing spitting ones. Frogs who nobody else wants. The saddest thing none of them are over 5 years old:( However, the bottom line is we still have to give value for money.

The Idiot in Charge is a micro manager - just very difficult to deal with. The staff are fab. Our paperwork is up to date cos we work with every outside agency known to man and they are always 'popping in' and we all go the extra mile.........being worked to the max to paper over cracks just aint going to happen:)

Break from work at home day. Have decided to go to a £65 per week groceries/household cleaning toiletries budget. Picked the wrong week - needed laundry stuff and loo rolls - always bumps the bill up but surprisingly only to £71 and as I have been well under the £70 weekly budget since 1.5.15 I am not going to worry :)

This weekend I will be Konoding my way through the house - fab thread I found on here - I shall be thanking the stuff that no longer gives me joy and moving it on - seriously. There is lot to be said for folding and filing yes thats FILING your knickers too :rotfl: :rotfl: For me, disposing of the clutter is always in a responsible manner - CS fr**cycle and recycle as much as poss. Will also have a small Eb*y pile

Had a very busy weekend getting on top of the paper piles - why I keep so much I really dont know - a lot work based which I didnt know I had so I guess I dont need it :)

Lovely blanket of thick snow over night - will make the drive to work interesting - usually half way there now but waiting for a gritter to come through!

Milkman made it but then he also drives a gritter - dont think he made the deliveries with it:rotfl:

What happened to January............will do a tot up of finances this week. Dont think I have done very well with driving down the debt but have kept to the groceries budget and no spends on anything extra. The debt will have gone down but not at much as I would like.

Hehe at the inspector calls garbage. Mine are all up and away now, but all I ever wanted for them at school was an honest, bright, engaging person to talk to. My dad was a head and his philosophy was teach them to read and they can teach themselves everything else. Book from the library had me knitting in no time...not sure that's what he had in mind for me..can't remember how to cast on now, but anytime I want to I'll pick up a book. Love you dad x

Just bit pushed for time at the moment so just a quick financial update :) I have calculated I have paid another 3.25% since mid January :) I am in the middle of a CC 0% BT swap around too. Cant decided whether to opt for a LOB with no fee or 0% 12 months and 3% fee - will have to do some sums!

So back to work tomorrow and a very busy 2 weeks ahead - bleurgh! had a fab long weekend away - really needed it and loved it whilst away. Going to a city every now and then makes you appreciate what you have at home - I can live with the inconveniences and the distances we have to travel sometimes - its quite and peaceful. We have dark skies at night and a wonderful landscape to play in.

We went to a city steeped in history, culture and education. We visited lots of places, ate some wonderful food and walked miles on pavements and cobbles which we haven't done in a long time! We took advantage of our reciprocal membership with EH and also made sure we had lots of 'free' entertainment, avoiding the extortionate entry fee to a large ecclesiastical building - we have visited before when the children were little so didn't feel the need to again.

It was disappointing to see bouncers from 4pm on every outlet that sold alcohol, homeless shop doorways ( lots of 'street angels' about ) and p!ssed up youth from about 11pm. I am not old, well I don't think I am but quite honestly it made me feel very, well I think sad actually, to witness drunken and out of control young men and women. Young women, having no shame, and peeing in bus shelters wasnt very pleasant either - beginning to sound like my grandmother now! The last time we went to this place must be 15 years ago - I dont remember it being quite so dirty - litter, vomit, dog !!!!!! ( well I assume it was dog!!) Maybe the missley weather and heavy grey skies didnt help.............. even here we could do with a good down pour of sparkly, spring rain to wash away the winter grime.

Despite my disappointment with above, like I said we had a good time and had an opportunity to talk about a few things - mainly money, future house stuff etc. We are committing ourselves to a new car this year and also replacing the central heating system - the latter I thought wouldn't happen for another 10 years or so, tying it in with an early retirement plan for myself but as we will be mortgage free later this year and an endowment comes to fruition we have decide to take the plunge and go for it now - there are also lots of green energy incentives out there to take advantage of too :) All a bit scary I have to say but it needs to be done..........going to be tightening those belts a little more methinks !

Still having a go at clearing the house of its clutter......haven't got as much done as I hoped this week: energy levels zapped until about Thursday when I had my 'jab' and have been a little preoccupied with work. I also have a big write up to crack an with related to some study....:(. One day the house will be straight! One thing very MSE a friend of mine is redecorating and changing her sofas so we are having one FREE - that was another expense I wasnt looking forward too as ours really needs replacing. I will have it recovered but a lot cheaper than getting a new one. Our old one will go into the conservatory - another reason to keep going with the kondoisation of the house !

Phew long post but there probably wont be many chances for next couple of weeks and I wanted to get things down so I can look back should I need to...........that's what diaries are for aren't they? :)

    Hi Igamogam,
Lovely to hear that you managed to get away and have a break and have time to do some thinking/planning. Love EH and NT. I had to cancel membership last year after maybe 20 years just to save money wherever we could - I have missed it this year as we have an NT place 5 miles from us and it was our regular winter walk. Am looking forward to re-joining next year as hope to have made in roads into getting back on track by then.

Had a look at the KM method of decluttering you suggested a little while back. and thought I would give the "do in one go" method. Also had a look at some of the u-tube videos on folding! So this week I have started on the office however it turns out to be a mammoth task and I didn't finish in half term. Now everything is out and upside down! Plan to spend next week, reducing volume of paperwork. Theory is good, just need to get the ruthless streak perfected ;)

    Have a good week:)

Feel I may get back to some normality but I have come home to learn that we are going full steam ahead on some major house alterations which have to be in place by 31st March - more upheaval. I thought we had a few months yet:o I guess once its done its done though!
