Possibly other people like me. No mortgage or debt and fortunately a pension income so I can't lose that. But mortgage & debt free diaries are very often (the ones that keep going I mean) very interesting and feel like a friendly place to be. Even though we may appear to be alright we still need to make sure that whilst expenses increase more than income does, that we are still earning 20 shillings and spending 19s 6d not 20s 6d. Besides that I am nosy about how people live etc and the last thing I would like to become is the woman who spies on her neighbours. So I guess these diaries are substitute neighbours.

Gone over the 20000 hits on this diary - I wonder who reads it??!

I do after finding your thread and "knowing" you from the PAD thread. Found your stories really interesting and especially some of the work stuff from about a year ago when you didn't know what was happening work-wise and ended up having to travel even further as this resonates with me as, though not a teacher, I am a public sector worker who had had re-organisation after re-orgaisation for the last 6 years with colleagues disappearing round me, our local office closing and just the customer service staff remaining and now the customer service centres being under threat of closure by next Easter so I am going through all that uncertainty, will be made redundant or redeployed etc etc with no pay rises for 5 years and ever increasing utilities etc:( Still I'm far from the only one and I jyust thank God I'm a disciple of Mr Lewis and get much support and inspiration plus a few laughs along the way from the forums.

Hi Jet9cat ( what does that name mean?)

Oh 12 months ago...................well I survived the year which was more than the Idiot in Charge did who made my life hell. New term next week will be just as hard but for different reasons and perversely I am looking forward to it.....I hope I will not be disappointed and New Person in Charge lives up to their reputation!

Public sector employment is definitely tough - I can't remember when I had a last pay rise...............and yet they really squeeze every last bit of juice out of you!

  • You know I'm here lurking and reading - I think we have stuff in common. Lots to do with our work...
We have a new person in charge too. I'm interested to see how it goes but certainly not excited. He's relatively inexperienced with regards to teaching and I am concerned that things may get worse before they get better, which scares me as it's been hard to work there for a couple of years now.
And I'll keep fingers crossed that your car isn't too expensive either.

With new tyre car cost me almost £200 to get through MOT - asked them to fix something that is not needed for MOT but none the less it annoying - connected with error message beeping at me all the time telling me lights not working- and they havent - wiggle the indicator stick I was told - I will wiggle something............... this is the only place that I always feel I am being patronised cos I am female:mad: OH wont have a word said against them cos they are local/in the village/competitively priced etc etc. Next time I am going to main dealer because I am not talked down to there and get a courtesy car... even if it will cost me more:mad::mad:

Hi Jet9cat ( what does that name mean?)

I'm useless when trying to come up with user names for sites, just go totally blank. This one came from my cat at the time, Jet (short for Jetsam, her sister was Flossie short for flotsam because when they were tiny kittens the could only eat cat meat out of Mr Kipling foil cases and got it all round their faces so jetsam and flotsam!) and number 9 our house number. Jet's no longer with us although lived until 18 years old, so truly a member of the family. Didn't think we'd have another cat as we'd also lost our other cat earlier in the year (not flossie, we'd lost her a long time ago) but then our Christmas present to ourselves that year was 2 female kittens from same litter from the animal shelter which my husband christened Itchy and Scratchy (as in the Simpsons and yes I know one of them's a mouse!) My husband chooses beautiful kittens with character and personality but rubbish names.

Sorry, didn't mean to give you a history if our cats there:rotfl:

    Feline history fab!

I am a big cat person..........errum I mean I like cats as pets;)

Our cats are vital to keeping rodent population at bay. We inherited 3 cats with the first house bought here - my OH stated quite clearly he 'hated cats' but I told owners ( they were emigrating) to leave them with us :) How many times did I find OH fussing over them!! We had a cat break once the last one had died but found the mice and rats moved in so we went along to a well known animal rescue charity and got us a bruiser 'You will never tame him. He will never be sociable' was the warning - a true mouser but daftest softest ex Tom cat I have ever known. Got a companion for him about 5 years ago and the 2 love each other to bits - a feline bromance:rotfl: Having said all that we are not sentimental about our animals and they have to earn their keep:D

Food festival was a bit of a disappointment - first time they have done it and organisation was not great :( Still it was good to sit and chat over a coffee and cake with good friend - both of us back to work on Monday after 7 weeks off:eek: cant believe I am not running round like decapitated poultry - feeling quite chilled about it actually:D Some of it may well be to do with knowing what to expect ( not like 12 months ago:eek:) and also I have made a conscious effort this week to get back into a regular going to bed and getting up routine - 6am start will not feel as bad....I hope:rotfl:
