Very emotional day yesterday in this household. Daughter had previously chosen St Andrews 1st choice & York second. Before she got exam results she found out on UCAS that she was unsuccessful for 1st choice but had got a place at York. She got AAB but St Andrews wanted AAA.
We spent all day looking at all the positives of York - of which there are many - but in heart of hearts she had decided St Andrews was her dream. By 7pm she was convinced that York was perfect and was glad the choice was made for her. I was very happy as she'd be much closer at York and she has health concerns at the moment so I felt this was perfect. BUT just as we were about to leave to go out to dinner to celebrate I checked the answer machine - and there was a message from St Andrews left at 9.20am asking her to call them back. Of course no-one was there by the time she rang back. We spent the rest of the evening wondering what the call could have been about and wondering if they were going to offer her a place even though she didn't get the required grades.
At 9am after another sleepless night, St Andrews rang her back to offer her a place despite not getting required grades - how lucky is she!!!! She didn't hesitate to accept.
Now we worry about the financial side as hubby and I earn just about the cut of point for assistance. Oh well - things work out don't they x0 -
Okaaaaay - not sure how to tell you this:rotfl:
We went over to the Treforest campus at Glamorgan, had a good mooch about, spoke to a fair few very pleasant staff, and - he liked it! It has been a beautifully sunny day which may well have coloured his view
Then we got home to a decline from Swansea and an offer from Glamorgan and he has decided to accept - he likes the course content better than the one at Worcester, he says. (Didn't mention Salford...)
I am completely exhausted, lol!
lol!
At the end of the day, its got to be your son's choice as to what he does and where it does it - after all he has to be the one that has to do the work and live in a place for 3 years......and I might have been slighty biased towards Swansea for family reasons anyway.:D:D
( I'm still coming to terms with the fact that Junior's course involves a year in worst Australia or best Canada! That'll teach me to leave his course to him !)
Just promise me that you won't get too upset when he comes home wearing that welsh rugby shirt......2014 Target;

Ha! No, not at all - my Mum was Welsh, and I lived in N Wales myself during my teens. I also spent 7 years in Australia, so if your boy does end up there I urge you to visit him - what an opportunity!
The only concern now is going to be finding somewhere for DS3 to live - apparently there are no rooms in Halls, which would be the ideal for a 1st year. He's dyslexic and dyspraxic, so very disorganised, and also not enormously confident or outgoing. Can you tell I'm anxious about my baby, lol?
You'd think I'd be more relaxed third time around..... [0
