Still have visitors - they're going after breakfast tomorrow.:j It sounds awful but its nice to have your house back isn't it?
Been to see Apollo 18 today - its quite good, much better than the reviews - I used my last cinema voucher so it was free too. BUT I did pay for all of us at Pizza Hut before we went so a spendy day.:(
I have sold a textbook on Amazon for £14 profit so that will get added to the Xmas £100 fund when it clears in the bank.
I also popped into Mr T for hair dye and was overcharged at the till - the ticket said £5 and I was charged £7 - so I marched over to customer services and got a refund for £4 so £3 hair dye in the end.:T Then had a brainwave and did the Pricecheck thing and its £5 in A*da so I'll get a £2 voucher back hopefully:rotfl:
Roll on tomorrow and normality!0 -
Hi welshwoofer - just wanted to wish you good luck. I like how your diary reads - we're almost debt free but I still have a problem with fritter spends and not using up what's in my cupboard already before buying more - so we could be doing a lot better. Looking for fresh inspiration - and think I may have found it. You sound very focused!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Morning Saving Holmes! Thanks for popping in!
At last the visitors have gone:j:j It seemed like a marathon stay this time......
So today is getting back to normal and getting ready for first day at work after 6 weeks off:eek:
I've already taken the dogs to the park and picked a load of pears off the tree in the back garden for mum to take home and packed them off with a packed lunch for the journey home.
The rest of today....- Do 2 loads of washing - bedding and towels from visitors
- Quick hoover round and dust
- Get clothes ready for work tomorrow (inset day) and first few days back in 'proper' work
- Make sweet potato soup for tea
- Stick to diet - been difficult with visitors but haven't gone mad thankfully
- Maybe dye hair with bargain hair dye
- Do physics scheme of work tidying up (probably about 2 hours)
- Look at first few 6th form lessons again
- Maybe do a couple of biology lessons if time
- Stay in tonight and watch extra Corrie and Fred West thing
- If the front lawn dries out mow it! (No one can see the back so that can wait!)
- Update diary
- Get textbook ready to send after selling it on Amazon
- Go through meal plan for the week and jig it about if necessary
- Have a rest in my lovely quiet house!

Yes sound very focused... I moved to tada lists - so I could report what I had done rather than feel guilty about what I hadn't...

Saving Holmes - I love a list! I wouldn't get anything done without one!
Been quite productive and done all of the schoolwork planned and a bit more too, mowed the lawn, walked the dog, hoovered etc.
In a weird way I'm quite excited about going back to work - I am a creature of routine!
Not having soup for tea now - its turned out to be the warmest day in ages here! So its pasta and pesto instead - I'll make enough to take to work tomorrow for lunch, nice and cheap and easy.
More good news - the other textbook I had an Amazon has been sold with a profit of £8ish.:j Not a million pounds but a few more towards the Xmas £100 pot, must be over half way now, I'll have to tot it up (God I sound like my mother!:rotfl:Good job they've gone home!) later. Now its 2 to post tomorrow - will do it on the way home from school before the post goes.
I also found another Mr T receipt in my purse so have entered it on the pricechecker - who knows?
I did get a £2 voucher today from them for the hair dye making it now the princely sum of £1 spent!0 -
First day back in work and I'm knackered!
Good to be back though - I like my job.:)
Nothing much to report really - I posted the Amazon sales after work and a letter to the council about the council tax and took a packed lunch to work, so other than that very little in the way of moneysaving/making. I suppose I'll get paid for working so that can count too!
Staying in tonight and getting ready for the onslaught of 1500 kids tomorrow:eek:0 -
Hi WW - even simple things like the taking your lunch to work do add up over the year.... I do sometimes take rice pudding to work or left over meals as I must admit I like hot food at lunch time... I think it is because we were on free school meals as a kid - and the lunch was our main meal of a day. We just had sandwiches at night or pancakes or a tiny bit of soup if we were really lucky... When I left home, I could barely eat a sandwich for years, I do eat more bread now but not as much as I did as a kid....Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I was very lucky as a child and had a mum that loved baking and always sent us off to school with sandwiches, fruit and some yummy cake/bun/scone. We didn't have a lot of spare money but I had (and still do have) fab parents that did everything they could for us.
Evening meal plan for the rest of this week....
Mon - HM sweet potato soup and bread
Tues - more sweet potato soup (fat club day and need something quick as I'm always starving when I get back late)
Weds - sausage bean stew
Thurs - quorn fillet, new pots and peas
Fri - not sure yet if I'm going out
Fat club weigh in tomorrow - not looking forward to it after having visitors for all that time:(0 -
I am doing tesco diets... How much weight do you want to lose? I want to lose 2.5-3 stone... Perhaps we can motivate each other?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
