I know what you mean Lemon - my daft youth has gone and I want to be secure and happy for the next part of my life - hence out with the old.....;)0 -
Morning all!
Had a really good sleep last night for the first time in ages - feeling quite alert today for a change!
Just been to the park with the mutt for a walk before it belts down with rain again - this weather is mental isn't it? I almost put the heating on last night but resisted - got a fleecy blanket out instead.
Its August!!
I'm rejoining fat club tonight - not looking forward to the weigh in but its a necessary evil.:o At least it will get me out of the house and be good for me too - 7lbs in 5 weeks is my initial aim - should be doable?
I think I'll say I can't find my old books etc and they'll give me new ones (I'll be paying the joining fee again so not really very naughty) and I'll put the new ones on ebay - they usually sell for quite a bit so it will recoup the cost of rejoining.
Today's school work is our new A level applied science course - I'm teaching forensics and biochemistry (kind of related to what I used to do before teaching) so at least its a bit more interesting than GCSE physics! I was quite proud of my endeavours yesterday though - managed to write and prepare 2 whole units of physics - that'll save me a few weekends of planning when I'm back in work properly.:T
On the "new groomed me" front - today its feet - bleurrghh! Hard skin must go - I have a pummice on a stick type thing that does work (but only when you use it!) so will have a go when watching telly tonight - bet you wish you live in my house!0 -
Well, I've been to rejoin the class after almost 3 months away to find that I have put on 5.5 lbs:eek: - not too bad I suppose considering all of the turmoil that has gone on in this house over the summer (for those of you that don't know, OH and I have split and its now just me and the dog). And all just after I got to target too:(
I've also had 6 weeks off work and the lack of routine or committment doesn't help either.
So, its well and truly back on the wagon for me - I have set my new target at losing 8lbs - that would take me comfortably into the 9 stone something bracket - a realistic weight for me to be able to maintain.
I did get a new set of books and have promptly put them on ebay - think may get £15ish for them looking at what others are going for. That will go into the £100 towards Xmas pot, whatever it ends up being as a profit.
Had a can't be ar*ed day with regards to school work - must do it tomorrow instead now. I did pop to Mr A to get some Batchelors pasta and sauce packs (on offer for 40p each - bargain), strawberries, yoghurts and milk - spent £6 in total. But that does mean that almost 2 weeks worth of work lunches are sorted (the pasta packs are 'free' on SW) for 40p each plus a bit of fruit:T
The solicitors rang this afternoon to tell me that the mortgage will complete tomorrow too - good news. I'm just going to be poor until payday in two weeks and then the payrise and new budget kicks in. Roll on payday! The first mortgage payment is about £100 more than it will be afterwards but I should be able to absorb this OK with the new pay scale etc.
Feeling quite positive - just have to get through the next 2 weeks!0 -
Morning!
The SW books have sold already on Ebay - got a profit of £17.50 in the end - that's been transferred from Paypal to my Xmas account - starting to build towards £100 quite nicely now.
I've listed 2 academic books on Amazon too, with the schools and unis going back soon they may sell - you never know!
Not much planned for today - I HAVE to do some schoolwork to make up for yesterday's bone idleness!
Will pop to park in a minute with the dog and post the ebay parcel on the way home. I also need to write a meal plan and shopping list so I stick to the diet.
Mum and sister arrive tomorrow (self invited!) and so need to do a bit of a quick hoover round and tidy - although I've found that now its just me and the dog here the house needs a lot less cleaning and tidying (hmmmm - who made the mess then?)0 -
That would be the Untidy fairies who are well known for going round making houses look untidy and in need of a clean.WelshWoofer wrote: »Mum and sister arrive tomorrow (self invited!) and so need to do a bit of a quick hoover round and tidy - although I've found that now its just me and the dog here the house needs a lot less cleaning and tidying (hmmmm - who made the mess then?)

Morning all!
Just waiting for the visitors to arrive (mum and sister, dad on a golf weekend, lucky him!). Have had a quick whip round the house to make sure its still clean, recleaned the bathroom after I had a bath, nipped to T*scos and done the weeks shopping I would do on Saturday.
Shopping wise I spent a total of £29.95 including extras for visitors (biscuits, extra bread, fancy coffee, few treats) so under budget by 5p! I think I will need to get more fruit early next week but the cost of that will probably be less than the cost of the extras I bought so on a normal week when its just me and the dog I'd have stayed within the £30 budget.
Not sure what's on the agenda for the rest of the day - hopefully we'll take advantage of the warmer sunny day and get out and about a bit with the dogs.
Just bracing myself for the onslaught............0 -
Visitors make you eat! I'm trying really hard to stick to the fat club plan and its very difficult when you're forced to eat out all the flipping time!
Today's it was the pub for lunch - lunch special for £5.45 including a drink so not too bad moneywise - but rubbish for diets:mad:
I'm sure they'll want a takeaway/meal out tomorrow too - I'll do my best to put them off - although mum doesn't want me to cook as she thinks its 'work' for me. I don't mind!!! Cheaper and better for you.
On the positive side, we went for a mooch around the shops yesterday and mum bought me a lovely pair of shoes (I did protest but not too hard:o) and paid for the pub tea. So no big spends yesterday and so far £5.45 on lunch and aboutt £6 in the local shops on fruit etc
Cinema using a free ticket tomorrow and hopefully no more meals out!0 -
