Had a really tired day yesterday - don't know why, I have felt a bit run down lately, maybe it all just caught up with me?
But I do feel better today so its work, work, work for me today.
I woke up in the night think ing about schoolwork - you can tell half term is over!
Just a few domestic things to do too - hoover and dust the house, put dry washing away, do another load of washing if there's enough, make tea.
AND a few personal bits to do too - dye hair, have a bath and grooming session, get clothes ready for the week etc
Rght no time to faff about so better get on with it!0 -
I can't believe its been almost a week since I last posted here!
The week has just been a normal working week really and I did manage to take lunch to work every day and after joining the minimising waste thread on the OS board I've managed to use up all of the fresh stuff in the house (apart from a few grapes) and haven't thrown anything away.
I went out last night with work colleagues and had a fab time - just drinks then a curry followed by a laugh in a chinese karaoke bar. I really enjoyed myself, haven't had so much fun in ages! I got a lift there and back too so didn't have to pay for taxis and spent £40 (less than the £50 budgeted) so not too bad financially. Still had a minor hangover this morning though but battled through and did the shopping, cleaning and domestic stuff today.:o
I did the shopping in Aldi and the local greengrocer again and spent a total of £20.20 so not too extravagant. I've decided to do this 3 times a month and then do one shop a month at Mr T's to get the vegetarian stuff I can't get elsewhere and things that Aldi don't stock - hopefully this will work out cheaper? We'll see!
I'm up to about £42 spent on November shopping so far from a budget off £150 so I think I'm on course to keep to the plan (famous last words).
I'm staying in tonight to recover and save the pennies and have a load of school work to do tomorrow so a good sleep and no alcohol should do the trick!0 -
I've just been reading a thread on the OS board about how much you have put away for an emergency and how much in savings you have and it got me thinking about my situation.
So here's a run down...
Savings - £3500 (untouchable apart from in a dire emergency)
Living room fund savings - £100
Xmas money (all presents now bought apart from one small one) - £85 (this can now be used for general savings)
Just to remind myself - I have NO DEBT at all and no overdraft so its all going in the right direction now:T
I should also have about £50 left over from this month's wages - I think I'll put £30 in the living room fund and £20 in the general savings. Not much but better than nothing and certainly better than owing someone £50!
I've had quite a few expenses this month that I don't normally have - going home to Wales for a few days, extra petrol, more social things than normal to name a few....
November's pay month doesn't look as bad so far - mum and sister are visiting me and I have one night out planned so far - I'm sure more things will crop up but certainly not as many as there have been this month so hopefully I can put a bit more into savings next month.
I'm also going to start getting a few things in for Xmas (started by buying some chocs etc last week) to try to not have a humungous bill in Mr T's the week before Xmas like I normally do. I think next week I'll get some biscuits for cheese and pringles etc - will look out for the best deals. Ooh and the essential Baileys! Can't get this too soon as it won't get to Xmas!
The bargain coat I ordered from H&M using a 50% code and free delivery arrived - its really nice and looks a lot more expensive than it was (£16!) Very pleased with it:j0 -
Just checked the few things I said I'd get for Xmas this week and they work out cheapest at Mr S by quite a bit. Also had a look to see if I have any Nectar points and to my surprise I have and they'll just about cover the cost of the bits I was planning to get. Will have to pop in on the way home from work one day - free stuff!0
-
I have a £16 H&M coat too - bargain:D Mine isn't a winter coat, but fine for now, especially at that price.
Have you seen Baileys is half price at S-burys this week? From Wed just gone for a week I think...hope this helps you:)I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Coat sounds a good bargain.
Fab that you have no debt and have savings...
Tempted to look at the Baileys for OH for xmas...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Morning all!
Its flipping freezing here! All foggy too!
Have already taken the dog to the park and wiped down the wooden floors to remove all the doggy paw prints.
I have a bit of schoolwork to do today - not as much as usual on a Sunday as I've tried to do a bit more in the evenings this week - just year 12 planning and marking and yr 9 tests to mark - fascinating!
I think I'll pop to Mr S to get the few Xmas bits later for a break from working, its all going to get hidden in the spare room wardrobe to remove any temptation!
I also need to start the divorce proceedings this week too as exOH has actually emailed to say he wants to "move on" ! Read into that what you will! Charming!
Anyway its not going to get me down - the sooner the better as far as I'm concerned now!0 -
Just popped to Mr S and got cheese biscuits, breadsticks, 2 big tubes of Pringles, midget gems and white chocolate for the grand total of just over £2 after I'd used a Nectar reward thing.
That's the Xmas stash well and truly started now.
Next week I'll get some nuts and pickles I think.
I also got a £4.50 off a £30 shop voucher that I'll use next week to stock up on veggie products and tins etc.
So all in all a successful trip!
I did notice that all shampoos and conditioners are half price too - worth stocking up at that price but I did resist this time, might get some next week if they're still on offer!0 -
No real time to post much today - aftera full day at work I have to go to the presentation evening for last year's GCSE tonight - and its not optional:mad:
So just off out to a lovely 3 hours of clapping like a sea lion at 300 or so kids - lovely!0 -
Hi WW - commiserations on the presentation evening...
