Neighbour Problems!!

Oh don't you worry they will get the full story along with all the plans of the house with boundarys. We did have a net extending from the fence (From the previous occupiers)but when we moved in we got no hello or welcome just can you take the net down, which we did at her request. Then when the summer months came we got a letter saying how she liked to hear children laughter but can we take them to the park or open spaces! Hello, what is up with this woman. Its my garden and I will do whatever I like (within reason). I have 2 young children and they will play on there trampoline and ride there bikes. My neighbours on the otherside are retired and we have no problems. When we had all that snow earlier in the year I got there shopping for them on my sleigh and cleared there drive for them. Also I saw them on their hands and knees with grass cutters last week as there mower was broken and I cut there large lawn with my mower for them. So I am a considerate person and will help others in need. Just a shame the relationship isnt the same the otherside she is the one losing out! Ive never had issues with previous neighbours. So Im the one who shows respect. Would you do the same for your elderly
neighbours ... think about it.
There is nothing wrong with your kids playing on a trampoline or riding their bikes, but kicking balls in to someone else's garden is a problem, whether it is them or adults doing it.0 -
My son has asked for the ball back but got a load of abuse so I had to step in and bring him home. My nephew has also asked for the ball back and I had to step in as he got the same response. Yesterday it got kicked over and once agin we asked for it back and got threated with court action. That was teh last straw hence I got legal advice and called the police.0

Are you responsible for maintaining the boundary, or is it your neighbour's responsibility? As the wall and fence are 10' high, which is the higher garden - yours or theirs?
Have you kept a careful note of how many balls were kicked into your neighbour's garden and kept by her, and who kicked them?.....................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

So now we have bikes and a trampoline as well as the football. In my experience I have never known a child to be able to play on a trampoline without shrieking constantly at the top of its voice, so I'm wondering whether the football thing is just the last straw for this poor woman.
People are entitled to "quiet enjoyment" of their property. It may be that your other neighbours are of the "anything for a quiet life" outlook.
Is there not a park or public play area in walking distance?I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Could you maybe come up with some temporary netting arrangement that you cold use to ensure your son's balls don't go over the fence while he's playing, but take down to avoid trapping anything once he's finished? That would sound like a good compromise, and if you show willing to remedy the situation she might be a little less rigid.
You are wasted on here. You should be applying for an opening in the diplomatic service.

Just wondering how the OP would feel if they told the Jehovas Witnesses to go away because they weren't interested, yet they kept coming back. It goes beyond nuisance and into harassment after several occasions. Not everyone is very tolerant of other people's children, and often with good enough reason.

If he is that good a footballer then what is he doing kicking it over the fence?0

There is some confusion as to whether it's the son or various indeterminate adults doing the kicking over.
If it's the adults that's even more reason why the neighbour is fed up. No excuse for adults to be messing around (raucously I'll bet) in a back garden, especially if they can't keep control of their balls lol.

They should be fine, as the OP says "Anyway the odd ball has gone over in a period of 11 months "......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

That's not really the meaning of the phrase in property law. It means 'not to be harassed'
But if we're taking sides, I'm with the old lady.0
