grab a cuppa and sit with some cake.... then get that cross stitch started and you'll soon be hooked.

lol flat eric - were they "dr whites"?? i remember when i worked in Mr B (1,2.3...... 8 years ago we sold them and i remember thinking !!!!!!..... they do have loops - used to attatch to special belts. only people of a certain age would remember them and (without causing offence to anyone) are probably no longer needing to use them!

    I remember them and I'm 35 :D
When I started at 11, Dr Whites was all Mum had in the house. Typically she was using her only belt so I had to thread a bandage through the loops and round my waist and go to school like that for the day until she could get me some more appropriate pads.
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:

  • i remember maternity pads with loops and belts from when i had my first (like hammocks they were LOL) dr whites were around when i was young (im older than shelly) but sticky pads were also so we went for those as the mums used the belts so we thought they were for oldies (no offence intended to anyone who chose them it was just the school i went to and the girls who dictated such things via pe lessons etc)

DH has taken youngest DS out on a bike ride so im baking muffins and stitching once ive caught up

I've had a fancying for stitching some quick & easy designs recently, so I've dug out some of my Lizzie Kate charts and finished a couple of designs.
Firstly I did this one on a spare bit of sparkly evenweave. It was *just* about big enough, so I need to be careful mounting/framing it.

Then I decided that I wanted to stitch something to go into one of the tuck pillows I have. I found a cute chart that I thought would work well in it & I could make into a birthday pressie for my mum.

Now, what to do next??? :)

PS-Chicky, I don't think they will freeze well, so you'd better share them around! I'll put the kettle on so we can have a cuppa with them. :T

  • Hi Guys
I have done a lot of cross stitch projects over the years. I also do Tapestry kits and latch hook rugs. I havent done any cross stitch project in a llong while and I have loads started. Anyway I am hoping that someone will be able to help me. I am looking for a cheap Eeeyore and pooh bear latch hook rug. The cheapest I have seen it for is about £67. Can anyone point me in the right directin to see if I can get it cheaper.

    Hello ladies
Thank you all for your kind wishes :o. The proceedure went ok, I am home, but a bit uncomfortable. (although that said the proceedure isn't meant to be comfortable so it is only to be expected that I am sore).
I was given sedation, which annoyingly always seems to make me more awake, so my plan of going back to bed after my 8:15am hospital appointment (yet the Dr didn't arrive till 9:15  and I didn't go home till 11am) was a total waste. I ended up just watching the Devil Wears Prada rather than sleeping.

No stitching done today, just rested all afternoon.
Not impressed that I missed that gorgeous cabinet (and after DH had said I could bid up to £50) :( all because of that damned hospital proceedure. Damn my genetics!

    Ah well,
I may just attempt a bit more tree before bed...
Hope you have all had a better day than me,
    AM x

How are you feeling today? Sorry for not posting before, but I was thinking of you & hoping you were doing ok. Big hugs!

Hi everyone, haven't managed to get on for a few days as our internet has been playing up

Louise and Mags those afghans are lovely. I really like the idea of the nursery rhymes. I have seen a really nice winnie the pooh afghan titled A Snoozy Day, was looking for just the pattern but cant find it anywhere so may splash out on a kit as im not confident buying all the seperate bits.

Need to get a shifty on or the baby will be here before ive decided!!

Hope everyone has had a good day, so glad its Friday!

How about a Mr Men theme? I have a Mr Men & Little Miss alphabet chart that was free with a magazine years ago if you wanted it.

Winnie The Pooh designs use specially dyed thread, so you might struggle to find the perfect colours. They used to sell a WTP thread pack, but that was a while ago & I think Designer Stitches no longer exist. Does Anchor own the rights to WTP now???
Are you more drawn to one big design on an afghan, or several motifs scattered around? We can always help with advising you on what you need to buy & where from if you did want to buy seperatly.
