Katy, I got a stash of mags from a charity shop... Let me know what style /type of Xmas ur looking for and I could have a look for u?

Thanks 23rdspiral. I think the problem is I'm not sure what I want, I just know I haven't seen anything I fancy. Everything I see has been tiny little motif sort of size, and whilst I don't want to do another huge piece (haven't got the time to do anything big before Christmas) I do want something with a bit more to it than what I've seen so far. I would prefer to do something traditional but I don't know what! So as you can see I'm kind of hopeless and indecisive lol!

I went down to Leicester on the train yesterday to meet some people starting my course and find out where the uni actually is. I feel better about starting now I know where I'm going :) I can't believe how much going on the train exhausted me though. I fell asleep on the sofa before Glee started!! Luckily I'd sky+ it.

  • Hi everyone, haven't managed to get on for a few days as our internet has been playing up

Louise and Mags those afghans are lovely. I really like the idea of the nursery rhymes. I have seen a really nice winnie the pooh afghan titled A Snoozy Day, was looking for just the pattern but cant find it anywhere so may splash out on a kit as im not confident buying all the seperate bits.

Need to get a shifty on or the baby will be here before ive decided!!

Hope everyone has had a good day, so glad its Friday!

Is it easy to start out in Cross-stitch? I've got a small birth sampler - beginner level for my nephew and have been putting off doing it. I would like to get it done by Christmas.. is it easy to start out?? I'm not very good with a needle and thread!

Ok everyone, here is your Friday evening :rotfl: So I have been on hols this last week. I haven't managed any cross stitch :mad::mad: and this includes having a couple of nights away in a b and b and taking half a dozen cross stitch projects (at least....) with me. My cross stitch didn't even see the light of day. I have my 60 birthday card to finish by next week so need to get a shifty on.

Anyway, I have suddenly discovered Mo Hayder so visited the part of town near me where there are lots of charity shops to see if i could pick up any of her books. As is usually the case, I didn't spot a single one ! and I visited 10 shops ! lots of you have mentioned about cross stitch bargains you have spotted in CS so I was on the hunt for cross stitch goodies too. sadly I didn't find anything :(.

Anyway, (good bit coming up :D) I had already walked the town I was visiting courtesy of google street view so I knew where all the charity shops were and had them on my hit list. I was out of luck for the Mo Hayder books and anything cross stitch related but I did spot in one of them a pack of Sanitary towels! Now this really made me snigger because not only did the pack look like it had been opened  but they must have been 20 + years ? old because the packaging was really really old fashioned and were nothing like i have seen available in my local boots. (i think from memory they were looped ones ?) anyway I didn't buy them but it did rather distract me from my cross stitch and mo hayder finding mission :rotfl:
  • Bella. It's as easy as pie if it is a kit it should have instructions with it so give them a good read before you start. I always.colour in the chart as I go (with pencil) so I can see what I have done and what I still have to do. Also make sure you sort your colours before you start. You will be addicted to cross stitch before you know it! And if you need any help.you can always ask. Do you have a link or piccie of what you are going to do (sorry I'm very nose)

Welcome home flat Eric hope you had a good time shame you didn't find and xs bargains or the books you were looking for. Yuck for the sanitary towels!

Finished my poem tonight and have sorted out the bits for my next one. Trying to use up some little pieces of aida I have so I'm doing this one on 24ft. Never used such a small count before !

Where is everyone? Been very quiet this week.
    Hope everyone is ok

  • Afternoon everyone,
Well I am having a cuppa, feet up and stitchy kind of day today. Well earned I think!
Still feel a bit iffy, but getting there slowly.

The stitching is getting there slowly, it seems to be taking forever to do, to say it will only be 7 x 5 inch when completed!

Well off to do some more stitching
Have a lovely stitchy day everyone :)
