From Wiki : A "fat quarter" is one square meter folded into four and cut along the folds, thus giving a square piece of fabric 50 cm on a side, as opposed to buying a quarter of a meter off the roll, resulting in a long thin piece that is only 25 cm wide

Thanks Mags_cat. Thought I would check as I hope to go and buy a chunk of aida soon. I don't like the stuff in packets too much as I can't seem to get the damned fold lines out and I thought a bigger piece would be more versatile.:)

    Hello Everyone
Have come on to gaze at your projects to try and cheer myself up as the kids are driving me mad and I'm back to school on Tuesday too- ofsted, internal review and lots more crap to look forward to- I used to get excited at going back to meet my new classes and do what i love to do - teach but it's just not like that any more. Sorry I didn't intend to rant!:o

Craft wise I am on the third section of my millenium sampler which is a bit boring tbh and I am debating starting something christmassy. I have also got a scarf and a cardigan on the go and am keen to get my cardi finished before it starts to get cold. I have put the winter duvet on this morning and I like being cosy. Autumn is my favourite season. :D
Right off to read back and see what you have all been up to:)

  • That sounds like a good idea Ruth_honey I think these Bothy designs might be addictive! I have a feeling I will end up with a large collection of those "Dictionary of" ones. Love the look of the cake, house and tea pot ones. This is becoming an expensive hobbey to do along side my other love of card making.

Well, I have managed a little more of Lottie today, it finally looks like something.

Am having to down needle and make a card for the MIL for her birthday, have left it till the last minute :o.

Thank you Chicky Wiggle - loving those free designs.

Best get on with the card I suppose, as have to deliver it today!
Hope you're all having a lovely day

Hope to start Myrtle Cottage tonight as I think I have about 4-6 weeks to complete so that I have time to get it framed.

Thinking of preparing order for Across Town for threads for those MP xmas designs so that they are here ready and waiting. You've got to think ahead.

    Enjoy your weekend ladies.

Wonky aida! by Flat Eric on Flickr, on Flickr

This is the aida from the free fox kit that came with cross stitcher recently. I don't think its meant to be wonky :rotfl: certainly the finished design doesn't show the aida as wonky.

I am quite  actually. Got new issue of cross stitcher yesterday and not that impressed with it. The last few kits have not been up to much (when you compare the lovely kit we got from WOXS this month) and whats with the poor quality materials being used ?

Hi everyone i am new to this thread but i am always on here looking at your wonderful makes! After a lot of looking and reading i have finally bought my first cross stitch kit, it was only a small card one just to see if i can do it and enjoy it and guess what i DO! :) I love all things crafty i learnt how to crochet a few months back but now i am all knitted and crochet out! So i thought why not give cross stitch a go! I know i still have a long way to go but i am very pleased i have completed my first little project - a birthday card for MIL. I must say i am hooked! Until i buy a larger project i have sent DH to WHSmiths to buy me a cross stitch mag which comes with a little freebie kit inside! I just can't wait, my hands are itching!

I am hoping to make some Christmas cross stitch framed tree decorations this year along with my crochet baubles! I hope i can join you all once i get started and hope you all can help me as i am sure i will have questions. :o

Anyways 'hello' and yay to cross stitching! x
