When people moan about having to do backstitching I have always said I enjoy it......until now that is! I didn't realise that this one contained backstitch that didn't go in the holes but in between (if that makes sense). I had to use a normal sharp sewing needle but got there in the end. 5 days to complete it.

Hate that type of backstitch - I avoid a lot of designs for that reason (Tatty ted, Newton's Law, etc) A lot of designs which use anchor seem to have that backstitch.

I usually do the bits in between, then weave the thread through the back of a few stitches until I get to where I need to be. Lazy, me? ;)

    :o:o Guilty :o:o

I do make the effort if it's a dark thread on an empty area of light fabric though :A

    I am catching up...

    Few questions for you all:

Aida or Evenweave - what's your favourite fabic count to work on?

Aida - not have courage for evenweave

You have a £10 gift voucher (and that's all!) for stitchy stash - what do you buy?

Loop for the tapestry threads I have now in a pile (I want to finish it one day but prefere x stitch to tapestry)

    What's your favourite stitching subject?

    Animals (have you guessed :D)

What subject do you dislike stitching?

Don't know really, perhaps tatty teddy etc

Who was the last person you stitched for and what was the occasion?

Chick berry for my potential MIL for her birthday, not framed as yet
"Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

  • Can I join you lovely ladies too please?

I am Augustsmummy :hello: I am currently working my way through a large pile of cross stitches, currently working on "Wise Guys Ducks".
2 ducks down, 3 to go.

My next project is Lottie from Humphreys corner for DDs birthday, followed by "christmas on the beach" for my Dad who moved abroad a few years ago so he could spend christmas surfing  thought it rather apt! lol.

I look forward to chatting with you all as I work my way through this pile! :)

  • I know what you mean. I was stitching a birth sampler for my DD (I started it 5 years ago :o and was finishing it finlly) when I came across this thread (lurked for a few weeks), I now have 6 kits waiting to be stitched! I was just so inspired by you all ;).

I also have a tote bag mad of aida which is (hopefully) on its way to me. I have no idea what to stitch on it when it arrives, so any ideas are most welcome! lol

I see my days will be full of stitching for the next few weeks, that and card making. (Yes I am a craft-a-holic, poor Augustsdaddy having to put up with me lol).

Well must crack on with duck 3! Will post pics later :)

Shelly - congrats on the sucessfull car boot!!:T Do you have plans for the proceeds? (Apart from kits):rotfl: We keep meaning to do one again but never get round to it. (tbh the thought of getting up at silly o'clock on a Sunday has a lot to do with it :o

Thanks. Other than a bargain kit or two I have no plans for the cash really. Just don't want it to sit in my purse and get spent on rubbish odds and ends.
Thanks for your comments shelly. Well done your car boot earnings - it was certainly worth it for you. Hope you have a lovely evening and Happy Birthday for your hubby when it arrives - 40 eh - those were the days - in the far and distant past or as my lovely ds puts it 'dark ages'. :D

Thanks. We had a great evening. I have face ache today from laughing so much! :D
