Thanks Louise. I agree, it's a nice complementary colour for the design. Makes a change from the usual white I stitch on:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0

what is your favorite Cross Stitch Publication(magazine)..... and why?
:T
For me it's The World of Cross Stitching. I have been getting that for more than 10 years now, unlike a certain other publication *cough* it hasn't gone all arty crafty on me, it sticks to cross stitch and there are a wide range of designs for every stitching level.
There are a couple of other really good mags but that's my favourite.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. I was wondering if I could ask a non-related stitching question as something happened yesterday that was really upsetting. My best friend asked me to be a bridesmaid at her wedding about a year ago. She was going to have two but she fell out with her other bridesmaid so that left only me. She was a bridesmaid at my wedding. About two months ago my mum was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Since then I've hardly had anytime to myself as I work full time and although my mum lives with my dad and brother they work full time too so I have to spend time with her so she is not on her own all the time. On Saturday I went shopping with my friend to look for bridesmaid dresses. I thought it went well but she sends me a scathing email yesterday about how I was moody, snipey, untalkative and notshowing the slightest intrest in planning her hen weekend. She said nothing to me about any of that when I saw her and Idid find myself struggling to find time to do things. I feel that I have to step down as her bridesmaid as it is obvious I am not capable of doing it. Of course this probably means the end of our friendship as well and she is on of the few friends I have left. Sorry about that. I just wanted to tell someone. Sorry for the rant.
We are here to help and be there for you - so rant away anytime. Its sad when friends go "funny" on you about weddings. When I got married to hubby I asked my then best friend to be maid of honour she refused saying she thought he was taking advantage of me bycoming to this country to be with me and she didn't know him. I hope all goes well with your family - I am sorry to hear what you are all going through but know we are here to support you best we can.PerfectParadox wrote: »oh :joh :j oh:j
can I ask a question?
A stitchy question
what is your favorite Cross Stitch Publication [STRIKE](magazine)[/STRIKE]..... and why?
:T
I have gone off magazines of late - cancelled one but kept on another - I have been member of both since issue 1. I like old copies of them - might dig them out and re do some of the stitches I lost in the fire.
Slowly stitching away my all our yesterdays boy for my grandnephew - playing around with alphabets for the detailling. Now I have to do a wedding for his mum and dad - they have announced they are going to get wed. Shame we can't go to wedding - its in Hawaii. Hubby and his dad are very close. Decided not to do a stitch for my former friend who I have been reunited with - thank you all for your kind advice

Hi all!
I've been away for week, so got loads to catch up on. Sorry if it's dragging up 'old news' but I like to add my 2 cents....Anyway - she has been talking about roast dinners, then apple pie and cream and well its got me thinking - following my question yesterday about favourite tipple, what is your typical sunday dinner ? do you have roast ?
I can't cook a roast (or much else, to be honest!), so if we do have one, we go the local Toby & have a carvery. Yummy! I used to have a lovely Sunday roast pretty much every week when I was little. We all used to go round to Grandma & Grandad's and they would do roast chicken & the best roasties ever. I don't remember having yorkshires at all, but I'm a big fan of them now.
Fave dessert is apple pie or blackberry & apple crumble. Gotta be with custard, though.Finished the first page of Tenby Harbour!
That looks brilliant! :Tblue_eyed_girl wrote: »Yes - choccy pud or sticky toffee pud would have been good but we are trying to be a bit healthy these days and when you see how much effort you have to put in at gym to burn a few cals it makes you think twice
Urgh! Tell me about it. All that time on the rowing machine to burn off 65 cals! That's not even a Twix. It does make you think a bit more about what you eat. Not ruling out the odd treat, though. Life's too short for that.So I thought, on the off chance to email Chesney Hawkes' management last night {if you remember we played 'the one and only' at Steven's funeral}, to see if he could sign a copy of the CD as one of the prizes.
Well, I just checked my emails and not only do I have a reply, but I have a reply from the man himself!! How cool is that. He doesn't have any copyies of the single anymore though, so I'm gonna see if I can get one from ebay to send to him

Oh wow! That's pretty cool. Good of him to reply in person too.Emily went back to nursery today and is knackered, she was so excited last night she wouldn't stay in bed so both girls are having a nap, which gives me an hours peace to read my magIt's mine and DHs 3rd anniversary today so I'll be passing round the chocolate and raspberry sponge later

Loving the Dolly Mamas update pic. I decided to take one of mine away with me as it's pretty small & straightforward to stitch. It's called 'Domestically Challenged'! Will post a pic once I've unpacked it.
Happy 3rd anniversary too. Hope you saved some choc & raspberry sponge for me-sounds scrummy!23rdspiral wrote: »I need a hug. Please. I'm hiding here till I stop crying. Hope u've had a chatty day. Spoke with mum. Should not have bothered.

<<hugs Ellle>> I echo the above. Tho I wouldn't phone her I would reply to her e-mail. Explain what is going on in your life at the moment and that although you are excited for her you simply don't have the head space for wedding planning at the moment. Put that although you still value your friendship and would love to remain her bridesmaid you would understand completly if she wanted you to step down.
For what it's worth I had 2 bridesmaids - my sister and DH's 2 year old neice. My sister I hadn't seen for about 6 months (except the weekend after she had just had her baby). The day my mum was supposed to come see where we were getting married she had to go back home (400 miles) becuase my sister thought she was mis-carrying.
I planned my own hen do - a night out - woooop - of which 2 people made the effort to come to (my sis-in-law and my ex-best friend). If it hadn't been for my work collegues being excited for me an treating me to lots of lovely pressies I don't think anyone would have given a monkeys!! Certainly wedding shopping was all done by me, me me and occasionally me and my mum or hubby.
My wedding day I was staying with my mum, dad, sister and new baby........ I was allowed the LAST bath - in a rush with no hot water. I had naff all help to get ready as baby (who was 3 months at time) got all the attention. At the hairdressers I had hardly any attention paid to the fact it was my wedding and they had messed up and despite knowing it was a wedding hait booking had only got 1 person in to do it so instead of beign there an hour it took a good 2 (i got so bored waiting I went for a wander into town, got bacon sandwiches and the new argos catalogue). I then dropped my mobile phone and smashed the screen!! Had to ring the best man and tell him to tell everyone we were on our way (got to hotel where we got married on the dot of the time i was due to get there). Had to have the wedding planner get me into my wedding dress as mum had to look after my sister and baby (DON'T ASK!!!!!!).
I was in floods of tears and made to feel like the most unimporatnt person in the world!!! My big day was (although I won't admit it to family) posibly the worst experience I have had. I would have loved a supportive friend to get me thro it but sadly it wasn't to be!!
sorry had to get that off my chest!!
Not amused at british gas but thats for another thread (must go update).
right just gotta harvest my crops then I MAY actually pick up a needle.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Hi
Aida or Evenweave - what's your favourite fabic count to work on?
Well has to be Aida but only as I've never tried evenweave although next time I buy something else I will get some to try. For the same reason 14ct cause apart from this months free kit ive started on 16ct I've not tried anything else.
You have a £10 gift voucher (and that's all!) for stitchy stash - what do you buy?
That would be evenweave then! Also going for threads as I don't have very many yet
What's your favnourite stitching subject?
I don't think I have one, just depends what takes my fancy at the time.
What subject do you dislike stitching?
Again depends, I know what I don't like, some things I would never stitch, but no particular subject
Who was the last person you stitched for and what was the occasion?
The rocking horse for my friends new baby. Its going in the post this week :T
PP - I am going to say WOCS because of the range of designs and sizes they have in each issue. But again I've not closely looked at anything else, this one just catches my eye.
Elle - I'm really sorry to hear that. Some people only think about what is happening to them at a particular time. It is obviously a hugely important occasion for your friend, but she has to remember that other people also have things that are hugely important to themselves at the same time, and if she really is a good friend she should realise and compensate for that!
I agree with the 'put the ball in her court'. You could say to her that you do have things going on in your life and that understandably your mum is going to be where you are spending your time and attention, but that you are making sure you create time for her too (as you did to go shopping). If you appeared not interested that wasn't your intention but you realise you might have been preoccupied because you don't know what is happening regards your mum. Maybe ask if there is someone who can help with the hen do organisation (assuming you want to do this at all!) like a sister or another riend that would be going on it anyway?
I hope it works out for you although I can't believe she sent you an email, do phones not work anymore??!! xxxxChallenge savings 2010-2016 £1564.60:j

It must have taken me nearly half an hour to write my last post as you hadn't posted this when I started!!!
Chicky I'm really sorry that your wedding day was such a bad experience. Not that I'm married but I don't think anyone realises just what a difficult thing to organise and execute a wedding can be. What a shame that your family didn't even try to help to make your day successful. I do think generally that there is too much pressure to have a brilliant and perfect wedding. Its no wonder people choose to go abroad with a few close family, or get married without telling anyone. Now I think you need hugs too xxxChallenge savings 2010-2016 £1564.60:j
