Hi everyone, I'm back in the real world after a week living in a field at Beautiful Days festival down near Exeter. I had no Internet so missed you lot, ESP the first couple of days till I settled in. It was really wonderful though :j. I work in the kids field which was such a bright shiney place to be I felt all my streses ebbing away - fab friends, great bands, fun crafts, and a little cider:D
I hope everyone is doing well? I love those cards nnm. I'm yet to read back any further.
I took a little tapestry kit and for a few inches done. I also learnt how to make a dream catcher... Which is like making fishing nets so we did them using driftwood. The sewn bits are just like blanket stitch so I was quite at home!Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. Welcome back 23rd - glad you had a good time.
Not been around for a couple of days so here are my answers:
Aida or Evenweave - what's your favourite fabic count to work on?
28ct evenweave
You have a £10 gift voucher (and that's all!) for stitchy stash - what do you buy?
Some evenweave and a few pretty threads as my fabric stash is getting a bit low
What's your favourite stitching subject?
Loads - it just has to be something I fancy. I love the 'arty' stuff from a certain publication and the Emily Peacock designs - less traditional stuff I suppose.
What subject do you dislike stitching?
Ones that have lots of fractional stitches and backstitch plus anything with a tiny, tine chart such as the 1st half of the HEAD in WOXS!
Who was the last person you stitched for and what was the occasion?
My best friend from school who I recently gor back in touch with (well - last July) after about 7/8 years of drifting apart. It was the angel picture that held a scan photo.
**Favourite publication - can't decide, I love WOXS but do like the stuff that most of you hate in Cross Stitcher!!!**
....Not done any stitching this week but have been very brave and made it out of the house to a craft club that started in town today. Had a massive panic attack, decided I wasn't going then gave myself a stern talking to and I'm glad I did as I love it! Have FINALLY after many, many years of trying and failing, learned to crochet!!!
We may possibly have a few new members soon as a lot of the ladies there love cross stitch so I told them all about us and suggested they join.
Well, hugs to anyone who needs them. Im off to do more of this baby blanket - my friend (one I did the angel pic for) is due on 11th September but already having false alarms. Keep telling her not to let it escape until the blanket is finished! (Just realised how unmaternal I sound in that!!!):):) - good day today

Just catching up....tellmeitsfriday wrote: »I think they are good designs, but I don't think they are worth the effort and time they must take.
If it was a picture, I'd hang it on the wall, but I don't want to make one... if that makes sensesugargurlie wrote: »Hi everyone,
I'm new to this board (although have been an MSEer for a while) and felt like saying hi because the postie brought me sparkly new threads for a gift I'm going to make and I had to tell someone! I think that for time being hold off, see what happens. you dot want to dissappoint yourself again. I think pretending that there wasnt tht void for those few years isnt right so maybe make something for the future, but not for the past.
:j:j:j. Congratulations Witchywoopiggy!!! That's such lovely news! A surprise baby! Wow!:):TRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. DMC every time :jThey seem to be the most common ones used for charts. I can count on one hand the number of times I've had to convert an anchor thread list in order to stitch something.
Thanks Louise - I had a vague recollection that DMC was the preferred one but just thought I had better check. Have been picking out some xmas designs from the Margaret Sherry book and they seem to be Anchor so i have converted them and sent an order off to Across Town - now it's my turn to wait for the postiePerfectParadox wrote: »yea thats the conclusion i came to, but most the colours seem to be just slightly off, not true to the conversion chart im looking at but seem to be close enough, but i dont know if using the true conversion of that partiular olour will then make it look wrong because everything else is done slightly off..... i dont know if that makes sense. it probably doesnt.
I totally see were you are going PP

Thanks for the welcome back. Being away made me realize even more that the people u choose to surround yourself with are very important indeed. More so than family perhaps... I talked my woes through with a few peeps, and found out that estrangement from your mother isn't as unusual as I'd thought. I don't want to be there yet, but, well... I'm not going to let myself think about that or her for a while. The black dog has been scared away... And I'm not going yo encourage him back in.
Sorry to hear about the wedding woes. I'm actually scarred to begin planning ours. (mainly due to my mum I think, and the fact I want a huge loved filled party, possibly in a mates circus big top, and OH keeps looking at country hotels!)
Oh and hugs to biker and anyone else who I've missed. XxRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -
Hi ladies.
No stitching here today. We went out to the Kinnerton factory shop and got some absolute chocolately bargains. Over 5kg of chocolate for £5!! We don't go often so tend to stock up when we do.
If any of you are near Fakenham it's well worth a visit :EasterBun
We then went on to Cromer for chips for tea so a good time was had by all (there was only the 2 of us but you know what I mean :rotfl:)
To keep on stitchy topic.....we went in a few charity shops but no kits at all for sale that I saw.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
