It's really amazing just how much that fabric really makes the tigers colours stand out. Usually a tiger looks great on black fabric but I really think I like that background much better:T

Oh I seemed to have missed the last question. I tend to stitch for myself but I am stitching Forest Walk to give to someone as a wedding present.

I was wondering if I could ask a non-related stitching question as something happened yesterday that was really upsetting. My best friend asked me to be a bridesmaid at her wedding about a year ago. She was going to have two but she fell out with her other bridesmaid so that left only me. She was a bridesmaid at my wedding. About two months ago my mum was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Since then I've hardly had anytime to myself as I work full time and although my mum lives with my dad and brother they work full time too so I have to spend time with her so she is not on her own all the time. On Saturday I went shopping with my friend to look for bridesmaid dresses. I thought it went well but she sends me a scathing email yesterday about how I was moody, snipey, untalkative and notshowing the slightest intrest in planning her hen weekend. She said nothing to me about any of that when I saw her and Idid find myself struggling to find time to do things. I feel that I have to step down as her bridesmaid as it is obvious I am not capable of doing it. Of course this probably means the end of our friendship as well and she is on of the few friends I have left. Sorry about that. I just wanted to tell someone. Sorry for the rant.

Speaking as someone who has looked after dad with terminal cancer, mum full time till her death and now very ill hubby with degenerative nerve condition (lord sounds bad when all written down ) im not surprised you find yourself struggling to find time to do things. Or that your mind might be on other important things. I am not saying your friends wedding is not important to her but i am sure to you so is your family, and if she can not understand why you are finding time hard to commit to then maybe she needs a dose of reality, perhaps you could meet up and say im sorry you thought i am not interested in xyz but with all i am doing in my life perhaps you would like me to step down as bridesmaid put the ball in her court so to speak, sometimes brides just forget people have a life outside there wedding. Thinking of you and your family x
  • Aida or Evenweave - what's your favourite fabic count to work on?
Aida, more out of habit than preference, although I've used both

You have a £10 gift voucher (and that's all!) for stitchy stash - what do you buy?
Threads or whatever I need to work towards my next project

    What's your favourite stitching subject?
I don't really have one, it's the colours that attract me!

What subject do you dislike stitching?
Flowers (I've done them too much)

Who was the last person you stitched for and what was the occasion?
I've just finished a Home Sweet Home door hanger for a friend's new home

Elle1267 can I just say that I don't think you aren't capable of being her bridesmaid, I think she is just expecting too much. If she is that good a friend she must know what you are going through?

Tbh I was reading that thinking that no wonder she is down to one bridesmaid if that's how she treats her friends!

Any decent person would have phoned and said 'you seemed a bit off yesterday, is there anything wrong/are you okay?' (or words to that effect.

I would get back to her and tell her exactly why you were 'moody and untalkative' (the cheek!) and leave the ball in her court to apologise and take it from there whether you still want to be a bridesmaid.

As WWP said, some brides forget there's things aside from their wedding, she needs a little reminder imo
