Women reports her 13 yo son missing, finds out he has been arrested
Nice one judge. The woman - who has grounded her son indefinitely and refused to let him see his friends - stood by him as she told the court: "Before all this happened I was telling people how disgusted I was [with the rioting] .The judge also asked the boy's mother to take away his pocket money until she amassed the £85 prosecution costs she was required to pay and to ensure he did extra chores around the house'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

You quoted my post below.Perhaps they could do a desk job accused of raping children.
Why should a company fund someone for getting into trouble regardless?
A company is not responsible for these people and do not have to pay them if they have commited an illegal act.
It is on charge not allegation, it would need to be fairly strong to get charged, the odd one may be wrong but that is when they could ask for their job back or sue if need be if the company did wrong?
Where is the word support in that? So It is not I introducing words, it is perhaps your mind?
Or is it just the point that most employment contracts have the clause debated about on here.
There is no reason for a company to be liable for people who do not plead guilty.
Why should there a be a material gain for guilty people who plead not guilty?
If anyone had been charged with looting there is a fair chance they could be sacked. (as most people have contact with assets)
You may not like it but it is true.0 -
Why would you leave it to the owner? I thought it was the child's moral upbringing that was at stake here? I would dock the repairs from their pocket money, punishment nicely fitting the crime.
Because I believe that I would do what is right. I would offer to help my son but would leave it to the owner if they wanted to press charges.
The law should be there to protect victims (been here before).
I dare say the police would say paying for the damage would be fine and would not persue it.
But the decision should be the owners of the property not the parent of the person who did the damage.
If a child had deliberately damaged a car the moral upbringing had already failed had it not?
I have never deliberately damaged a car, no one I know has.0 -
I've seen Casablanca. Become one of the usual suspects, you get rounded up a lot. The kid is going to find that stop-and-search is a routine part of his life from now on. By the time he's 20 he'll probably have collected a string of nights in the cells and convictions for arbitrary offences - obstruction, disorderly conduct, whatever comes to mind.Graham_Devon wrote: »You are one warped individual."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. Someone PLEASE start a E-Petition to sterilise anyone found guilty of involvement in these riots...these scum don't deserve to pass on their genes to another group of scum who will destruct this Country in the future.0

This kind of relates to this e-petition.
This morning on the news, it has been learnt that the first person to be being evicted from their "subsidised housing" due to taking part in the riots is happening in Wandsworth Council.
David Cameron was also on a local BBC news station, suggesting we should seek to remove subsidised housing from these people.0 -

Yesterday, actually, Graham
And here is the Government response to the e-Petition (returning to the thread subject...):This e-petition has reached 100,000 signatures. The Government has notified the Backbench Business Committee in the House of Commons who will consider its suitability for debate when Parliament returns in September. This e-petition will remain live, and people will be able to continue adding their signatures.
As you may be aware, the House of Commons debated the recent public disorder when Parliament was recalled on 11 August 2011 and there was an opportunity for MPs to address the substance of this e-petition. This does not preclude a decision by the Backbench Business Committee to schedule a further debate on this issue when the House of Commons returns from the summer recess.
In the meantime, we would like to update you on the Government’s current position on the substance of this e-petition.
Prisoners convicted of a criminal offence and detained in prison are not entitled to social security benefits. That means that anyone who is eligible for social security benefits and who is caught, convicted and imprisoned for any offence committed during the recent disorder that has disrupted London and other UK cities will be disqualified from receiving social security payments. The Department for Work and Pensions is also looking at whether further sanctions can be imposed on the benefit entitlements of individuals who receive non custodial sentences. In addition the Department is considering increasing the level of fines which can be deducted from benefit entitlement.
In relation to social housing, it is already a ground for eviction if a tenant or a member of their family is involved in anti-social behaviour or criminal activity in their local neighbourhood. Ministers have encouraged social landlords to use these powers, and a number of local authorities have pledged to do so. The Department for Communities and Local Government is consulting on proposals to allow such evictions to take place where the criminal activity takes place outside the vicinity of the local neighbourhood; more information is available to view here:http://www.communities.gov.uk/statements/newsroom/publicdisorder.0 -
Where is the word support in that? So It is not I introducing words, it is perhaps your mind?
Your introduction of the word 'support' back here, and used in your subsequent posts:Are you really saying that is unfair and the company should support the person through it and keep their job for them?
My initial response to that comment here:Ark_Welder wrote: »Echo of StevieJ. Suspended until found guilty. Dismissed once found guilty.
+++Why should there a be a material gain for guilty people who plead not guilty?
No-one suggests that there should be a meterial gain for the guilty, just that one of the moral stances of this country which differentiates it from many others is a presumption of innocence before the trial that determines the guilt of the accused.
You appear to imagine that you did not introduce the word 'support'. You also appear to imagine that the word 'suspend' means the same as the word 'support'. You will not find any post of mine - or anyone else's on - that suggests supporting anyone that has been found guilty of any crime - that is all in your imagination, and a subject in your posts only.
Living for tomorrow might mean that you survive the day after.
It is always different this time. The only thing that is the same is the outcome.
Portfolios are like personalities - one that is balanced is usually preferable.

But it is not in UK law, and is nothing to do with employment contract's with behaviour outside of work clauses.
Innocent until proven guilty relates to fair trials, use of a lawyer if you can't afford one etc.
The idea it means you are treated as innocent until jailed is a fallacy because if they think you should not get bail you will be locked up until trial.
PS guys the innocent until proven guilty line is in human rights law, it is not in the Magna Carta.
That is "a presumption of innocence exists until such time as the burden of proof or a jury of their peers decides otherwise."
Basically so until arrested (Burden of Proof) or via trail.
It is to give a fair trial. It does not mean you are innocent until proven guilty. It basically means that trials should be fair for all.0 -
Why not do it yourself if you feel so strongly about it?experience08 wrote: »Someone PLEASE start a E-Petition to sterilise anyone found guilty of involvement in these riots...these scum don't deserve to pass on their genes to another group of scum who will destruct this Country in the future.0
