Hi Have you thought of joining a NSD challenge. I've found it amazing as I now realise I don't need to buy all the little extras and it has made a huge difference. or the payment a day challenges as well.
  • Hello CanyScot, I was actually just thinking about the NSD and perhaps a saving a £1 a day challenge as well.

Currently I only spend if its MrT Shopping day which is once a week but I was thinking of transferring £1.00 a day into my "piggy bank" savings account and if I have any money left at the end of the week.

I think that logging into my bank account and doing the online transfer every day will give me a new excitement about watching the pennies as well. :A:T

We has a take away of Fish and Chips - £6.80
and two small shopping trips to the local Co-op as well which I need to include to this weeks shop as soon as I can find the receipts.

Went to Mr T last night to get a couple of goodies and stepped out £102.78 later.

Oh well that is the last of the money for this month! and have now gone £34.33 over budget.
Will just have to be more careful next month.

  • Oh no, Total spend is already £77.89.

No more shopping until payday, besides petrol!

I will have to be much more frugal in February or the debt hurdle will never be overcome!

  • I am £118.00 in arrears with Council tax  so will have to settle that quick!

Also noted that my annual tax code has been wrong for the last two years so that will need to be corrected and my over payments paid back to me "slowly" over the next year. (every little helps):o

Today I received a promising telephone call from a recruitment agency whom I have been working closely with over the last year for a better job. Fingers crossed that will now materialize.:)

And I am off to my friend for a coffee tonight instead of spending money we will have liqueur coffees at her house by candlelight surrounded by her fluffy kittens! :T purrrrfect! :p

  • Last night was fab! and a NSD for me as well, considering that I am over budget and will not bring out the Credit card again I have no choice but to be good. :o

This weekend I have a friend popping round with a movie which we can enjoy on my newly acquired surround sound gratis! :T and I have a bottle of wine ready for opening and a pizza and Garlic bread in the freezer to snack on! :rotfl:

As long as I can clear the overdraft the end of this month with Mr Santander I will be happy and it's one debt gone for good and account closed forever! :T

    Small steps!

  • It may seem like so little but I am still happy with my small steps this month.

I must get £15.00 petrol tonight but that is already in the budget so I will not see this as a spending day. As long as I can pay off the overdraft entirely this month it will be a huge challenge overcome and I can then focus on the new challenge for Feb13.

Well I decided to put only £10 petrol in the car and keep £5 for DD2 school lunches when off to MrT. on Sunday. from now on , weekly shop Sundays only, should be a couple of reduced items before closing!

It is surprising how little Petrol I actually use considering the long round trips I have to do daily!

I may have overspent on budget this month but it is the first time back on watch and alert in a long time.

Something else I must get off my chest is though I desperatley wanted to part exchange my little yellow car for a shiny black convertible, the extra a year on road tax and heavy fuel consumption is just not sensible! after all I am a DFW!!!
So no more talk of the shiny, convertible. :silenced:

  • I am so proud of me! WOW! I have not spent a single penny on the weekend and we have had a rather good weekend.I went to a friend for DVD last night to save on 2x round trips to fetch and carry DD2 to and from birthday party.(saved on petrol)

DD1 is bringing a bag of goodies from her Tesco shopping for DD2 school lunches so I don't have to shop until next Sunday which is Petrol and Mr.T weekly shop day.

Next week I plan to have a full week of NSD and attend Gym at least 3x this week. That's it a personal challenge and hope to set my very first personal best in the very first week of Feb13.

I have transferred all the little bits of cash left back to the Reward account to stay as much out of overdraft as possible and only shop with cash in left hand and calculator in right hand.
It will also be interesting to see if I can save up a few pounds each week for a month end treat! Perhaps a £4 bottle of red wine:T
