My Diary to save a little, live a little and pay off a lot!

I started my road of recovery many months ago. Now I am on the road to self preservation by saving, living and paying off all debts.

Three goals on the count down list
1. Car finance to be settled in 12 months £4296.05/£4296.05
2. Savings pot = one months salary £1350.00/£60.00
3. Ultimate Goal of mortgage free in 2031 £189701.10/188,444.00

This is my healthy addiction for it is the route to becoming my sustainable future.

I have just redone my budgets for the next 12 months and feel so much more possitive now that I have seen that it is without a doubt possible to settle the car finance in 12 months, save in the savings pot and work towards mortgage free.

Also waiting for the switch of gas&electric and Rental/BB&calls to talk talkfrom UW. UW have been far more expensive than promised.

It may be a simple budget but I find them easiest to stick to. :j

  • Happy to say I am still on target with my savings and have kept the cash safe in my savings account to add to the lumpsum payment to clear my car finance at the end of this month. The only problem that I can possibly have is clearing the credit card as well which has been used (sparingly) for food and fuel but I am sure that it will all be managable.

  • The car finance is paid off but this will be a good time to summarise the list of debt to focus on paying off with in the next 10 months.

  • September is a particularly tight month after saving every penny to settle as much as possible of my car finance and big credit card bills from DH1 birthday in August but complaints do pay off. Natwest has credited £12 in compensation to my credit card statement and Halifax has also credited £20 for the nonsence they have caused me over the "upgrade" weekend.

All I have to do now is keep to my strickt budget and I will once again be totally debt free June2012.

    HI BB

I bet it feels good knowing you won't see another car payment going out next month.

We have a similar goal - Debt free by summer 2012.

Well done on your 12 month budjet plan it's given me an idea to work a 12month budjet for myself to I usually muddle through and hope there's food left for the last few days before payday.

    Good luck

So did I, but I am now so relieved. My custard cream may be slow but is low to road tax, cheap to run and has 6 years of warranty left!

Only 10 days left of September and I am really happy with my spending so far this month.

Budget,Budget,Budget and the future is bright!:T

  • This has been a good exercise. I always thought I budgeted well but as this is the first time I have actually written down and kept record of every penny spent, I kow realise my fuel bill is much higher than ever anticipated and I need to keep better control of the food shopping.
