I personally think the people who manage to find all of the comps on here are amazing!! :T
I've posted a couple of comps but can't find that many that aren't already posted I don't know how they do it and to be honest I don't want to make it any more difficult for them or they might stop!! Then where would we be!!
Keep up the good work guys and if you choose to use R on your posts then go for it but it is YOU'RE choice!!
Where would it end....suppose you could pop an R and then name of the site you have to registered to just incase someone is already registered with a particular site...Just keep up the fantastic work all regular compers know you all do!!!

Yep same here!
I dont always enter ones where you have to register but once you have registered its so much quicker and many of them autolog you in the next time you visit.
With regards the 'R' in the title I probably wont be doing it either, most of the time I would just forget anyway!
People are good enough posting competitions on here - which must reduce their own chances of winning the competition - but hey thats the friendly bunch that congregates on here!
Im grateful to all the people who post just for posting them, the main thing for posting (to me anyway!) is being able to see the expiry date and what the prize isWeight Loss - 102lb0 -
I totally agree with everyones comments - and i appreaciate how hard it is to find comps that haven't already been posted and the hard work that's involved in posting the comps.
I can see what the OP is saying and what i do is to hover over the thread title and it shows the first paragraph of the post, i can tell from that most time whether or not i need to register as most times the poster has put in if it requires registration to enter. This saves time and i make my decision if i am going to enter or not.Best Wins of 2010 = Apple ipad & £100 Dejager vouchers:j:jJune Prizes = Kids Card game, Miners nail polish set,L'oreal million lashes mascara.0 -
I think there was a similar discussion some time ago. It would be more time comsumming and there will always be arguments over what we mean by registration. Some sites simply want your details the first time plus a password, which is quick on roboform, on others it is definately time consuming.
I simply don't think we should create any more work for the posters. I am off work due to being assaulted just now and have some time. Usually my time is very precious too. I am a single parent with a demanding job, pets and a house to look after. During term time I often setting my alarm at 6 am so that I can post some comps and fit in child and jobs before leaving for work at 8am. I then take time at the end of the day to congratulate all the winners before starting on the housework. I really don't want it to get more complicated. I really enjoy this forum and don't want it to become a chore in any way.0 -
I wasn't sure where to post this, so mods please move if this is not the right place.
I know that in some countries (incl. America) competition winners have to pay tax on their competition winnings. In fact I recall a story where a man won a trip to space but could not take it up as the tax payable on the prize would leave him heavily in debt.
So..my question is, would you still enter competitions if you had to pay tax on the winnings? For me comping is a hobby, and there is no way I would continue should I need to declare every win to Mr Tax Man.0 -
As far as I know, competition wins of the kind posted on this forum are free of tax.0

I think they are now, yes. I was wondering about whether people would still enter comps if the rules changed.0

There was a discussion about it before. Personally I put R after the date if you have to register, for example for a news letter or something. I think it is a good idea but I agree that it isn't necessary & is time consuming. Also I have to register for very few sites now as I simply log in (I have already registered before).
Often I move my mouse over a thread without clicking it to get a general gist of the post - registration, sign up to news letters, student comps, age restrictions etc.
I think that the time that the folks around here put into adding the competitions on here is fantastic and that we need not ask any more of them. The info we have on the title now is enough and the posters generally put in the post if you have to register or if the comp is for under 16s. It doesn't take a lot to get the gist of the post or click on it, Thank the poster and close it with or without entering.
That is what I think anyway:beer:

CALLING ALL COMP REGULARS CAN YOU SPARE SOME TIME TO HELP ME?????
hi all you regulars on here, its the time of year when i go through the whole regular (monthly weekly etc...) comps board and see if any of them have finished etc.... now it is a massive job and just wondered if 2 of you could help me out doing this?
basically you have to go to every single thread and see if the comp is still active as some close through the year.
If anyone is willing to help me out on this i would be eternally grateful!! the first 2 to pm me will be picked.
also please dont underestimate that this is a 2 minute job its not that easy!!! but it doesnt have to be done in one go you can take a week or so to do it. I will allocate certain pages to the 2 people so we dont double up.
Thanks in advance!!0 -
