Bad news about Budget increase. I am on Keypad so will have to weigh up my options I think.
  • thought budget energy were good at the start , but now having problems with them. I have over £200 in credit with them and they are making pathetic excuses for not returning some, but they are still taking more per month than I am actually using. It is pointless being cheaper than Power N.I. if they take more in DD and keep my money in their bank account! Will probably move soon!

I'm with Airtricity at the minute, I hope they are still not charging for online top-ups as I do these twice a week and had never noticed anything saying that!

I had a Budget energy sales rep at my door the other night. DH tried to send him away, but the guy wouldn't leave and asked to "speak to the missus". I went to talk to him and kept telling him we've not long switched to Airtricity, didn't want to change, and was busy making biscuits with the kids. He did not take the hint, he was halfway in the door so I couldn't actually close it on him. In the end I gave him my details just so he'd !!!!!! off!

However with regards to Airtricity they have had a price rise of 3.5% this month, just 4 months after increasing by 17%

Exactly the same situation here - I even sent them the calculations showing how they were overcharging us, but still they refused to lower our direct debit amount.

Tried to move to Electric Ireland on Saturday, but unfortunately their systems were down for maintenance all weekend (yes, ALL weekend...).

I've heard some dubious stories about Electric Ireland - be careful. Your maintenance story rings true.

Just wondered if Budget energy would let you set up a new direct debit with them so you can lower the amount they are taking from you.

I would suggest to any-one on DD to move to Keypad, at least you are in control.

I buy lecky one a month on-line, keypad shows you how much you use per day, so easy to budget your finances

Agree with you on that..i would be lost without my keypad meter
  • Even with over £200 in credit, not only will Budget Energy not decrease my DD , they have told me they are increasing it because of rising electricity costs. Latest excuse for not getting a refund, " the cheque has been written, we're waiting for someone to sign it." I was told this over two weeks ago! still waiting!
Just had my latest meter reading, it shows I am still not using as much per month as they are taking in DD. Does this ring a bell with anyone else?
