Hi Everyone
Feeling really worried at the moment, my LB moment came about because of the realisation that my hubby could lose his job, I suddenly realised we were in no position financially to cope with this.
Things seem better where he works, but my DH took a promotion which was a mistake, the money was a only a bit higher, but he is stressed out, shattered all the time and has had enough.
The goal was to get debt free and then DH would find a lower paid, less stressful job and I would reduce my hours. My DH has had enough, and decided he cannot cope with another few years there, he's 40 this year and feels if he doesn't move now he never will. I completely understand how he feels, he works well over 50 hours a week, but financially I have stuck my head in the sand and hoped the money would be similar, deep down I knew it would be unlikely.
He started to send his CV out the last few days, one job that he really really wants, and I have a feeling he could get it (we have a relation in management there) , the thing is its over £10k a year less to start and after he completes a qualification it would be £9k less plus at the moment we have a free car and petrol so we would have those extra expenses. I have just finished my extra PT job so we are already down £2k a year.
If we were debt free it wouldn't be a problem, but I just don't think we will be able to manage, i'm frightened to put it on paper, in case I have to tell him we can't afford for him to take it. I broached the subject, but he is so excited and he said he's prepared to get PT work to top it up. I will have a chance to go full time probably towards the end of the year, which would help.
Sorry for the long post.
I so wish we were debt free and he could take his dream job without a worry.

Not sure what to say Zippy, what a horrid situation. Is the job you can do full time your therapies or your other job? Could you stay PT but get more clients at home (easier said than done, I know)? Maybe if you did put it all on paper you'll find it isn't as bad as you think. Also, is it worth thinking of paying back debts more slowly if it means you're more stress free. Good luck with all this xxJanuary budget

Well its been a month since I last posted on my diary so a quick update.
Hubby has his interview on Thursday, I have to admit to mixed feelings over it, I know its the right thing to do, but its going to mean that we probably won't be debt free for a good few years. I have decided to look at it that even if we manage to overpay by just a few pounds a month its bringing the date closer.
Another positive thing is my business has suddendly picked up :T I have to be honest with work taking priority I haven't put alot of effort in, but this week I have loads of customers booked £255 worth :j , its given me a real boost and made me realise if DH gets this job I have to earn extra money and this will be the easiest way to do so. I'm going to knuckle down and get some advertising done and leaflets given out. I'm also going to start doing allergy testing, I'm qualified to do it and have the equipment, but have been making excuses not to get on with it, so its been the kick up the backside I need.
Cleaning is going quite well, every room has been gone through except our spare room, I'm putting it off as its full of stuff, mostly clothes that I keep saying I will sell on ebay, they have been sat there over a year so I need to make a decision, they either go to the charity shop or the car boot as I'm never going to have time to list them all on ebay, pack them up etc. i think its because those clothes contributed to the debt I feel I should get something back off them so its not as bad, but they are getting me down and making me feel guilty everytime I see them so need to be sorted, I think it will a weight off my shoulders when they are gone.
I have listed a few things on ebay and a piece of furniture I have started at £200 has 26 watchers so hopefully will get a good price, this is going straight off the CC. I got enough limit from m&s to transfer my balance so thats now at 3.9% thank goodness
Financially managed to get myself straight after my christmas spendathon, overdraft sorted and next catologue and hoping to overpay about £400 this month not including ebay money. Will have to work out updated debt balance.
OOh I've waffled on
Sorry, but typing it out I can see its better than it feels sometimes
Happy debt busting everyone :T
Forgot to add I have an appraisal in work tomorrow and if I pass I get a pay rise, I don't know how much, but anything gratefully received...wish me luck x

Hi Zippy, glad things are going well at the moment, I can understand your mixed feelings about hubbys job, but if you are both less stressed, I'm sure it will be a positive step - you can't put a price on (mental) health!
Didn't realise you had started a diary thread until today - I'll be reading with interest. Take care, love Snaggles xxx"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Well done hon, keep it up!!!!!!A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Hi Zippy, I'm relatively new here so just thought I'd say Hello. Its very difficult to stay positive and motivated with paying off the big D word and its even harder with children in tow. I really hope you make some headway this time and if you feel the need for a splurge log on there's lenty of people here who won't let you!
Good luck
