I presume the sword in question does not fall under S141 then ?
The law "Prevention of Crime Act 1953" which creates the offence of "possession of an offensive weapon in a public place" makes no distinction between S141 items and non S141 items.
As already stated S141 does not prohibit "simple possession" ,it covers supply, manufacture and importation.
Thinking about batons / truncheons ..I wonder if those who wrote meant for it only to include items that have a hand grip and are usually held at one end by that ...a smooth wooden staff would not fall under that then ? Just a thought .
One does fall under s141 but it fits in the sporting and re-enactment additional defences bit which only covers swords, the other is a hand made one from the 1920s so exempt.
You may be right about the hand grip, do you remember "death stars" being in the offensive weapons legislation? Quite right, no one should have a weapon that can destroy an entire planet. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Some serious Manchester video coverage out there, one shows the guy setting Selfridges alight (full facial id), a couple more were like scenes from Robocop, no prisoners taken.
A man has now been arrested for this. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Really? Mine's 12 inches. Does that count? I'm rather fond of it.0 -
Really glad to see that councils are looking to evict these criminals.
Though it begs the question, where are they going to live? They will have to be housed somewhere.
Also, theres an epetition running, with over 100,000 signatures for those involved to lose their benefits. The demand to sign has taken the site down.0 -

I’ve been in #Manchester meeting 100s of people who are determined to get their city back on its feet. #riotcleanup'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. I think it will probably make 'em riot even more - and possibly burn down the council buildings - which come to think of it I might actually support.0 -
Two men sentenced to 16 weeks and 10 weeks custody for their part in the riots. Well that should teach them!!!!0
