Use night lights on landing0

No lights on here at night. If Mr LW needs to go to the loo, he'll put the bathroom light on to see where he's aiming (sorry if TMI):D If I get up, I don't need to bother with a light at all.
If I'm on my own (winter evenings, before Mr LW gets in from work, for instance) I don't bother with the light until I absolutely have to, as I've found that the low-energy bulbs seem to have an adverse effect on my lupus rash.:(If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
We leave the lights off - and the children have solar rechargeable lights from Ikea - I'm not bothered if they keep them on all night then. They recharge the lights by leaving them on their windowcills during the daytime.Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
My DH has installed a motion sensor in the hall and on the stairs, so the (low energy) lights switch on just when someone is on the way to the bathroom or up and down the stairs. We sleep in the basement, so it's dark day and night. Very useful, especially if you are carrying a basket of washing :TJust about to sort out my clutter....honest!:rotfl:0

we don't leave lights on at night, and we have small children. No street lighting anywhere around. I think its better for them to sleep in the dark. We manage to go to the toilet in the dark, I'm quite good at finding my way to the bathroom
I'm really surprised how many people do. MSE!!! lolI have dyslexia, so get used to my spelling and grammarMortgage pay off date 11/2028. Target 12/2020 :rotfl:

I just leave the toilet light on for the little ones and thats an energy saving bulb.Sometimes i like to imagine that im living on the breadline as a single mum with 3 children to feed and clothe, bills to pay and very little time to myself........ then i wake up and realise im a princess with prince charming by my side and a lovely white castle........ oh wait

Nope, never leave any lights on overnight.
No need to, I can see perfectly well by the light from the burning washing machine.0 -
I live alone and never leave any lights on overnight. If I have to get
up in the night,I try to avoid putting lights on and just open the
curtain a bit,so that some streetlight comes in.I just have to be
careful not to step on the cat-she's very dark.0 -

Inside the house, we have lights in the front porch and the landing controlled by wall switches that switch them on at dusk and off at a predetermined time (ie around bedtime). And during the night we have a Safe T Light (http://www.safetlight.co.uk/) on the landing for night-time excursions to the bathroom etc.
Outside is a different matter. We have a fairly large garden surrounded by trees, hedges etc and outside the front door you can't see your hand in front of your face. So we have CFLs with a dusk-to-dawn sensor as a deterrent.0
