Not the first time you experience it:).
I thought I'd gone blind:D.0 -
No light on all night in our house. We have those torches that generate power and save it in a battery. They use LED's so the power lasts ages. They are cheap (£1) and just right for having by the bed in case of night time wanderings.0

I've always thought houses with just the hallway light on are conspicuously empty and wondered why people advertised their being out so much. The discovery that people actually leave the hallway light on when they go out to give the impression someone is in the house was a surprise. If you want to leave a light on, why not a light in an upstairs room? It's more realistic that someone is in a room than in the hallway.0

Because of the configuration of our sitting room, and current lack of dimmer switch, when we watch a film or something we use the hall light as a softer alternative to the main light to supplement a lamp.:o0 -
Never ever sleep with any lights on let alone anything electrical i.e washing machines tumble dryers etc, infact i never leave them on in the day if i am not in the house (also leaving clothes in washing machine after they have been washed often leaves clothes stinking and full of bacteria). I also have 3 young children and have brought them up to sleep in the dark so it doesnt faze them and waking up in the night for the loo we never put the lights on! I say darker and quieter the better, my idea of hell would be laying in bed with the lights on from the hall and flashing tv lights and noise coming from the washing machine, big NO NO!!Raven. :grinheart:grinheart:grinheart0

I don't leave any lights on at night, but then having a street light in the front garden may have something to do with it
.
It gives enough light for me to be able to get to the loo and back.
This is the same for us.Except street lighting is right next to the side of our house right next to the bathroom.Paul Walker , in my dreams;)0 -
All lights and most power sockets off before I go to bed0

We have steep stairs and no street lights shining through windows. To stop the DD's from leaving the lights on of a night time, I got some tiny LED solar powered lights and have run them up the stairs. They give enough light to stop you falling down and breaking something but at the same time are not too bright to interfere with sleeping (DD's leave there doors open of a night). Very pretty as well lol0

One of the things I love about going to my sisters is the night sky. On a cloudless night the Milky Way is amazing and I need nothing more to light my way.
I remember bivvying in the Dales on a warm night. At about 2am the moon came over the horizon and bathed the dale in its light. Mesmerising.
Can't get that in the city; infact, I can see my way round the house with the curtains open apart from stair well.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Unfortunately leaving a light on won't stop break ins if they want to get in they will.Leaving a light on will help them see better that's all.0
