Interesting, haven't run into it myself. Did disabling the DNS cache help? Would have been fun, probably safer to tackle it with a PE disk.

That never helped either, it was probably the worse infection i have had to deal with, everything that i thought off to fix the problem, the virus seemed to have disabled or corrupted the option to do so.

Tried cleaning out inside the tower with no luck, still the same no signs of life.

What I'm going to do is first get a new pc anyway because this laptop is not actually mine its only with me temporarily and I don't want to only have one pc in the end. I want a back up in case of problems so once I get the new pc and its up and running I'll set the old pc up in the spare room and have a go at trying to revive it with more time to do so and under less stressful conditions. I'm just concerned that the laptop might konk out on me too before I get the chance to order a new pc as this is very old as well.

Viruses seem to be getting more destructive, I'm really wanting to get the correct antivirus software and firewall and everything for the the new pc for best protection. I think its probably going to get worse with the bad guys trying to hack into comps to access bank info and for identity fraud, because of the way things are crime is going to be on the increase
    Thanx
