I have done a full scan twice today both with malwarebytes and superantispyware and avast boottime full scan on high and just the trojan.p2p.worm comes up on malwarebytes, and it takes about 1 hour 30 mins to do a full scan on malwarebytes so I'm trying to save time at the moment although I do prefer full scans normally
I dont know why it says quarantined then comes back on every boot up.
Some worms are really hard to get rid off, do a full scan with sytem restore off.......- Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
- In the System Properties dialog box, click the System Restore tab.
- Click to select the Turn off System Restore check box. Or, click to select the Turn off System Restore on all drives check box.
- Click OK.

i switched off system restore then scanned with malwarebytes it then showed the two trojan.p2p.worms as above. I sent to quarantine and rebooted, it gave me blue screen and would not boot. Then booted in safemode, ran malwarebytes and it came up with another virus in registry trojan.new.dot.net in HKU\S the p2p worms will still be there but dont come back in safe mode. I then ran superantispyware which kept faulting so far but that also came up with 2 other viruses i cant rem what they were as it could not continue.
i tried to start up in normal mode and keep getting blue screen and it cannot start up. one of the blue screens says something bout irql not equal
What a mess, I cant log on at all on the pc is there anythig can do?
The previous hijack this scan and malwarebytes scan wont be the same now as more has happened. i have ran check disc in safe mode
Also worried in case any of the viruses and problems will have transfered to laptop as using routerThanx

do you need any data from the infected system? if not, factory restore it or reinstall windows.!!

Hi, Lady_K,
Worms are a real nuisance to remove, some people just give up and do a fresh install, make sure you don't have any usb devices attached when you are installing or starting a program from because the usb stick can get infected too, it could be the USB stick that is infected instead of your HD.
It took me 3-4 days last week to remove a worm infection on a customers pc, i could have went the easy route and done a fresh install but i wanted to see if i could clear it.
If you can be bothered, i first.....
Booted up with AVG recovery disc and selected to rename all infected files.
Then done a full scan with.....
Malwarebytes/superantispyware/lavasoft and a load of other free spyware removers, i then ran ccleaner and scanned for errors in the registry and eventually it was fixed.
If you have an original XP disc that came with your system you can boot from this and select repair once it boots up at the welcome screen....
Type in "CHKDSK /r" ....once it has finished, type in "FIXMBR" or "FIXBOOT" and do what i said above.
Hope you get it fixed out Lady_K....it's a real pain when this happens.0 -
I will have to try some of that tomorrow, I don't have an xp disc or set up discs this pc was given to me just as it is. I have a feeling I'll have to get a new one, flippin bad timing as usual though.
I have done ccleaner as I use it anyway.
If I can get a scan from hijackthis in safe mode would that be any good?Thanx

If you have the product key on your machine, you can download a torrent of the OEM version of XP and do what i said before, if you don't have the sticker with the key try using this tool0 -
The pc is a dead as a dodo now, it will not turn on at all.
I can't understand what happened when it just started with router setting changes then all these viruses. I can't understand why Avast never picked the first one up either. I didnt have chance to run avast for the rest as by then it wouldnt start up. I switched on and off at plug and there is no life whatsoever.
There will be things I want to get off the hard disc if its safe to put it in a spare casing to see if its recoverable but I dont want any of the viruses getting on any other comp.
I will need to get a new pc now and seeing as I have to do that I will get a bigger monitor because the one I've been using is small and I have eye problems so I've always struggled. I do not like shiny reflection monitors though and need a good true colour one. I actually prefer the big monitor glass screen but can I get similar in a slim one?
Any recomendation for what to get and where to buy would be appreciated, I don't play games but want a decent reliable pc
Thanks for all your help, I cant belive how this escalated though to end up like thisThanx
