It was in temp files but it swappws from bit8 to other bits, it was trojan.p2p.worm the last time it came up in two places starting something like bit25 and another I cant remember bit2a or something but that was after i turned off system restore and re scanned malwarebytes. Everything went down rapid after that and wouldnt boot in normal mode then after booting in safemode it had another virus in registry trojan.new.dot.net AND SOME OTHERS SHOWED IN SUPERANTISPYWARE BUT then the scan said it hit a fault and couldnt continue so I didnt get to see the names fully but they were different ones to the others I then RAN CHECKDISC IN safemode and tried to reboot in norml but the blue screens kept coming and I couldnt log on. This morning the pc wont even turn on. This started ith my router settings being changed or whatever reason, by hacking, fault or accidental reset of outer i dont know.

I do remember though finding it odd that after running boot up scan with avast in high I went to check my virus vault nd everything had just gone, before there were viruses listed from previous yars but the page was then blanked out with no history

Sorry for caps I'm useless on a laptop keyboard
    Thanx

When you say nothing happens when you turn the PC on, do you mean that lights don't come on, fans don't power up, no beeps, etc?

The router presumably runs from mains, and would only be plugged into the tower via a network cable (that just transfers data).

If you feel that the router's settings were changes, then you might be advised to use the pinhole at the back to reset it, and put the correct settings into it. Make sure you are confident first that you can restore the correct settings to it of course, or have someone who can do it for you.

I managed to set the security back to what it was before the pc failed, I also reset the router password from admin to my own I was not sure on ll the other settings and ouldnt know if they had been changed too but i JUST CHNGED IT BACK TO AES and wpa2

I never really took notice before but I'm shocked at the amount of unsecure open networks close to my property in the list of available networks
    Thanx

Have you taken a look inside to check that dust hasn't clogged up the vents? Unplug the machine, wait for thirty seconds and then plug it back in.

What was the worm, and where did it infect?

There was loads of infections on the PC i was repairing, i didn't take note of everything but the main worm was the W32.Downadup, IE and Firefox were not working, i connected to the internet with chrome but i could not connect to any sites to download antispyware programs or virus removal software.

Any antivirus/spyware programs that i transfered to the PC would not update and the stick became infected when i ran the programs, the file in the registry which lets you bootup in safe mode was corrupted and showed a blue screen when when i tried to bootup safe mode.

Even taking the drive out and scanning externally did not clear the infections.
