Have you run any anti malware/virus software on all you computers since this problem became apparent?

I have run avast and nothing came up but I ran malwarebytes and found 3 infections but they all relate to the same worm in temp files and have something to do with google earth-win-plugin

    Trojan.P2P.Worm

All 3 have been quarantined now

I don't know how long the settings were changed for, I wouldnt have noticed when using the pc that the router is attached to but I did stay online on the laptop for a while but I wasn't sure what was wrong. If I was using the router through the laptop could it still get info from that?

I have now found how to change the router password and tested it, should I create an id? as it just logs on without an id, I wasnt sure where to create one

Does anyone know what I should check in my router settings in case anything else has been changed as I wouldnt have a clue what settings there should be

I use lots of passwords on the pc and laptop like most people do, changing them and remembering them all again would be very difficult, is it likely that they will all have been hacked?
    Thanx

If your PC is infected with worms, it would be a better idea to scan offline with a live anti virus bootup disc and then check again with malwarebytes/superantispyware in safe mode and also check your internet options/connections/Lan settings and make sure the proxy server is not ticked.

    Hi

Thanks I have just checked the proxy and its not ticked, I did a boot up scan with avast on high and it picked up nothing, I will re run malwarebytes and superantispyware again to double check too even though I quarantined the trojans.

I have unticked printer and file sharing for microsoft networks via network connections too on both on the ones that are showing connected in there.

I am going to put the laptop on and block printer and file on there too as I was on there the most

Will blocking printer and file sharing for microsoft networks affect anything else apart from sharing between computers and laptops? will it stop me doing anything online?
    Thanx

they can only get into the router or access your files via wireless if they hack the encryption first, which if you are using aes is very unlikely.

You could also run this program and check if anyone is connected to your network

but it was changed somehow because it was set at aes before, then it went to no security so it was unsecure for some time, not sure how long though, its what could have happened during that time. It could have been a day or weeks

After this happened I found on the net that if the routers password is still admin it can be hacked, perhaps thats why it happened because I havent changed it myself. Although I have noticed for a couple of months now that I have had to reboot the router just about every day and before that I hardly ever had to reboot the router, perhaps once a year
    Thanx

    it either

    lost it's settings
    someone changed it
    someone pressed the reset button
it was hacked or an infection changed it

the last option is the least likely, but there is little point worrying after the event, just secure it and check for malware

Malwarebytes scan just came up with this again, just 1 this time but I rebooted before running again so I'm concerned its not going
