I have been to wisbech loads of times in my previous job. Yes it is full of travellers sites, and there are alot of rough areas.

Hi, just to add my view I would highly recomend Isleham, we have just moved there after building our own house, lovely village, fantastic school achieving outstanding in all areas of the ofsted report which also has a swimming pool which you can use during holidays. lovely pubs, indian and chinese takeaways and its own arkwrights store LOL complete with a lovely old fashioned shopkeeper. It also has a co-op have a look at the website if you google isleham it will come up.
My husband and I looked all around cambridge and felt that Isleham offered everything yet still maintained a lovely country villiage.

If you have any questions PM me And I will be glad to answer them for you.

yep my sis & family moved to Wisbech from surrey (cos it's so cheap) but in a nice little lane of about 6 houses and farm land to the other side.

my bro & family moved to March which i believe is a little nicer

but the whole of cambridgeshire is the UK's inbred capital isn't it?

they put the US' deep south to shame with their redneck inbred ways.

Its good to see your family settling down, maybe you should join them there?
  • cambridgeshire is not the inbred county of the country and i find that highly offesnsive for you to say that.

    Norfolk however is:rotfl:

For information, the fens cover Southeast Lincolnshire, Northeast Cambridgeshire and West norfolk; however the Fenland District is in Northeast Cambridgeshire.

Wisbech has a large travelling community, but this tends to be focused near the edge of town near the A47. I has its rundown sections and its posh bits, just like any other twon. Wisbech is slightly larger than March and has better shops (more national chains vs family run businesses).
  • My sister lives in Wisbech St Mary. It's a nice little village, just outside Wisbech itself, bonging clock tower, owls, that sort of stuff....there are some fab 5 beds individual build available for private sale at the minute in Guyhirn just as you come off the A47 and get to the T junction.....try some of the small villages outside and around Wisbech they are really nice, lots of Georgian farmhouses...there are some fab houses in Wisbech (round the old maternity hospital site, but Wisbech is a bit rough.....however, could be a prudent buy as they are proposing doing up the port area in the next few years.
Lots of Polish and Lithuanian workers around at the minute too so crime rate has soared in March/Wisbech areas as they seem to have a lower regard for life than us...pinch cars, get ratted and stab each other a lot!
