Lets hope so.
I've sent a quick email to Watchdog (as I'm sure others have), and also trading standards to ask for any advice.0 -
I take it that only the people who had money taken have a case here?0

I am waitng to see what has happened to my credit card, and my mother is waiting for here switch statement online. Both don't update on the weekends so I will have to wait until at least monday to see if they managed to cancel the charge before it was fully processed.0 -

When Trading standards view this thread all they will see is a group of people trying to pull a fast one when someone has made a mistake0 -
HairyHatMan wrote:The cancellation notice came from orders@ebuyer.com. On replying to this address, I get an automated reply stating 'The email address orders@ebuyer.com is no longer available.'. It seems to me that the enaotes system is the only way of communicatig with them!
If it's of any use to anyone, here's my reply:
If so this seems like a good place to contact them.
Damn they just bounced with this note included
E-Notes have replaced email at Ebuyer and they provide a means for you to get in contact with Ebuyer staff, and ensure you receive a speedy
and effective response to your query. The email address orders@ebuyer.com is not available.
Speedy my eye.
Decided to send complaint also to trading standards. Bet they have had lots of them.Down south where, unfortunately, the government does remember us.0 -

You seem to take a very, lets say, liberal attitude to ebuyer. They are a ruthless company who are out to make profit, to exact as much profit from the consumer. They by no means offer the compassion of some local traders, or even more customer friendly online traders (play.com come to mind in my experience). Therefore people taking a "business" attitude in an attempt to extract what is right fully theirs is by no means unreasonable. A legally binding contract has been formed, a contract that us consumers would have found it very difficult to get out of if we would have chosen to, but ebuyer believe they are above the law and do not think consumer law applies to them. Furthermore they treat their customer base as ignorant people who are unaware of their protective rights.
I for one intend to exercise by rights to the letter of the law in an attempt to get what i think is rightfully mine. I do not suffer fools gladly, yes it appears they made a mistake. it is now time they pay for that mistake, and perhaps selling these televisions at a loss will prevent a mistake for the business in the future.0 -
If ebuyer uk limited is " ruthless company who are out to make profit, to exact as much profit from the consumer"
then what they will do tomorrow is fold re-start as uk ebuyer pocket everyone money that is less than £100 per order since credit card protection does not apply for orders less that £100
It would appear to me that the ruthless action here is comming from you
I have ordered goods in the past from ebuyer and when they were unable to deliver within my time period due to postal strike I had no problems cancelling my order and going elsewhere.
Most people I know that have bought from ebuyer simply because they are unable to find the product in stock elsewhere at a lowe price0 -

:hi first post: Hello everyone just found your wonderful community in the last couple of days- is it always this exciting?
just checked my online credit card statement and i owe them the amount £39.46.
i have a case then?0 -
Clearly you have a limited understanding of business, and business law. Yes this would be a viable option. However to do that would lose ebuyers commerical base, people know who ebuyer is for good or bad. Yes they do offer a cheap service on many products, but that doesnt make them a good business. They are no fills, offering products as cheap as possible, that is their niché. If they "folded" and and emerged as UK ebuyer as you mentioned, dont you think this scandal would attract legal attention, not to mention press attention. This would either be severly detrimental to their new image or enough to close their new busniess front down.
They are ruthless, as are most companies, ultimately they want a profit. Why shouldn't I want a "profit" and be ruthless, i am within my legal rights!0
