  • Personally, I like to see photos of lean-tos and conservatories (so I can check that conservatory really is a conservatory and not a lean-to). There may be power points out there - so a washing machine could be put out there. It's a bit of possible extra storage space. If you decide to knock down the lean-to, then at least you know before viewing the place that there would be that bit of work involved and the decision as to whether to replace it with a quality job one or a conservatory.

    Makes sense to me.

That doesnt look like a bad house for a starter home generally.

Those stairs don't feel safe. Would put off buyers.

They can be dealt with - £2,000-£5,000 and bingo...one nice new staircase.

I would still be put off personally, as I hate stairs going into a room - but obviously a lot of people buy houses like that. Think if I were the owner of that house that I would get a cheaper end staircase (the 2k level) to replace that and then remarket the house.

The thing is that they presumably took away the original staircase to make the house lighter and airier and to make more living space. So they are not really going to pay to reinstate it, are they? They may be better off to wait for some buyers who think that what they have done is an improvement. Youngish people without vertigo, kids, or grannies may prefer it.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I have an awful sense of balance and about once a month, on average, my knee plays up so I need a stair rail to hold onto. I know it may cost the owners £2-3k to install a staircase with rails, but they will probably get most of it back via a higher sell price and the move hopefully will be quicker.

When my friend and DH moved into their current house, they had stairs similar to this and once she became pregnant with her DS (now aged 26) they got a woodworker to install bannisters and a stair rail so she had something to grab onto during the latter stages and safer for DS when growing up.

Nightmare stairs, I hate open tread anyway, but no bannisters either..... The use of dark colours to decorate the bedroom has done nothing to enhance its size, and as for the courtyard..... Talk about crazy paving! It looks like it was paved over several years by finding odd slabs that don't match!

This one is my second favourite, off to waste money on the lottery.

    This is my all-time fave

Would probably have to win a dozen consecutive euromillions to buy and still be able to afford the up-keep.

Well if you could afford this, you can afford a cleaner full time. They can then live in the flat or cottages on the site.

That was the longest description for a property ever

Was tempted but am put off by the idea of buying somewhere in Flushing from an estate agent called Lillicrap (childish snigger). I'm a cheapskate I'd be tempted by this which is local http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-36023692.html
