... and they've even filled in the EPC lower down the page! :rotfl:

Mind you, there have been quite a few of these "properties" over the last week...

Ah....but these conservatories do have a dual function - heat traps for a bit of passive heating for the house. My parents have such a conservatory on their house. So they put sunblinds on it to pull down if wishing to sit in the conservatory in sunny hot weather. On the other hand, they just open the kitchen door (conservatory built round it) to release warmth from the conservatory into the kitchen to help warm it up.

I'm a conservatory fan myself and hope my new house will have a big enough garden to have both a decent size garden and room for me to add a conservatory (unlikely in the event to be one already...).

Another vote for the south facing conservatory, even in winter, on a bright day the solar gain can mean no central heating needed during the day. Having grown up in a house with a north facing one, that was truly unuseable from Oct to March
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

I took that "umbrella" as meaning "conservatory needs sunblinds up and we've not got any". Errr....or is that what you meant..?

You've put a more positive slant on the picture than I did! It just seemed quite bizarre to me-but I do like the house and it's in a good area.

I'm not knocking the solar gain aspect; in fact that's brilliant, but it all goes out of control for me when we get real summer weather. Like a lot of cheaper conservatories, mine isn't vented well, and so I end up sitting in our north-facing kitchen on hot, sunny days. :(

I suppose the ideal conservatory would have those bi-fold doors so that it could turn into more of a veranda when necessary. My relatives have a posh Amdega with all the blinds and what-have-you, but it's still too hot for me on summer afternoons.

I have a south facing conservatory, but live in Scotland so the ice on the inside has melted by June. :)

At which point I am back to wondering whether the reason why there are so few conservatories with houses in the area I am going to is down to the weather - where I have been assuming that it's most likely down to it being a poorer area and some of these modern conservatories aren't cheap. So I'd assumed that maybe most people there don't have them because they can't afford them....maybe I got that wrong..
