I took that "umbrella" as meaning "conservatory needs sunblinds up and we've not got any". Errr....or is that what you meant..?

picture 3 - someone has hung chopping boards on the wall.

    I don't "get that" either.

I do get, for instance, if someone chops out the design from a large pattern wallpaper (a large flower for instance) three times over and frames them as a picture - next to the feature wall with that particular wallpaper on. But, bits of wood, huh....what's that about?

So many people just don't get that conservatories facing south or south west are virtually unusable for the periods of good weather we have.

We have a huge glass & wood monstrosity facing due south. Even in February or March I often have to fling the doors wide. In June it can be intolerable.

We're demolishing it soon. If I want to feel totally overheated, I can go in the polytunnel. :)

Ah....but these conservatories do have a dual function - heat traps for a bit of passive heating for the house. My parents have such a conservatory on their house. So they put sunblinds on it to pull down if wishing to sit in the conservatory in sunny hot weather. On the other hand, they just open the kitchen door (conservatory built round it) to release warmth from the conservatory into the kitchen to help warm it up.

I'm a conservatory fan myself and hope my new house will have a big enough garden to have both a decent size garden and room for me to add a conservatory (unlikely in the event to be one already...).

Chopping boards on the wall?!!

Those are modern art creations of great significance. They represent Yin, Yang and Yung, the three fundamental life forces. Their chipboard bases stand for the worthless, homogenised pap which we are fed daily by the media, while the wood veneers epitomise the thin layer of decorum that binds our otherwise fractured society together.

PS. I sometimes help my daughter with her fine art assignments.

Yes, having one, I'm aware of all that, but a garden room does much the same job, though perhaps not at the same price. :)

I think I'd find cooking on that hob a tad awkward.
