We are deemed to be ok, as our washing machine is in a separate utility room - but a Dutch friend is adamant that people with washing machines in their kitchens are 'beyond filthy'. Hers is in her bathroom.

Does she have a downstairs bathroom? They are quite heavy with all that concrete inside.

If anyone's been watching "The Bay" and admiring the views from the detectives house here's your chance to own it.

No - upstairs bathroom. Must have been built to accommodate a heavy washer.

Coincidentally, there was another chance to own it in 2012 when the Google car last passed that way.

My view isn't subject to the vagaries of rising sea levels, so although they must have some impressive sunsets, I'll pass, thanks. :)

    Nice house.

That was an easy one (or more). Wonder why the aversion to lampshades though:cool:

I thought I was the only one who noticed that, never understood people who think bare dangling light bulbs is a good look :p

When we bought our current house, the previous owners wanted us to buy the lampshades for ridiculous amounts of money - from memory they were asking £200 for one.
They were all hideous so we declined their kind offer to pay for them. Unfortunately they left all the shades behind so we had to dispose of them. Bare lightbulbs would have been preferable.

Trying to imagine the decision making process in the kitchen - how can we update this mahogany kitchen?

Pay a visit to B&Q and get yourself a new set of doors, drawer fronts, and end panels. There are also companies out there that do doors & drawers as part of a <ahem> low cost refurbishment.

I was trying to work out why the owners put that strange splashback along the worktops, I know it would be easy to do if I actually bought the house!

I think it can be said that interior decor isn't one of their strengths. Maybe the reasoning that would cause most of us to reject chequerplate sheet in that situation just wouldn't apply.
