Climate data for coastal Ayrshire in January shows it's quite mild. There are sub-tropical gardens in Western Scotland further north than Irvine.
Wasn't a great idea to take a photo of ice on the pool though!
House and the one in MK reminds me of those they were building in Bath at the same time, instantly labelled "The Chicken Houses" by locals:

They are definitely on a par with the MK one : )
I live in MK and lived in the area before MK existed. A lot of the early houses were built in the brick shortage of the late 70s early 80s so were made from alternative materials. There are some much uglier ones : )

This is not in the same league as some of the finds but it's beyond me why the EA has drawn attention to the ugly piping in the shower / wet room - see pics 7 and 8

Yep...had my mind boggling too - and even more so when I thought "Yep...it's the modern HUGE tiles - so it's pretty recent and I don't see why they didnt do it properly then".
Though that house is a bit "why didnt they do it properly?" about various things. The height of those curtain rails above some of the windows is wrong - far too high. The kitchen is messy and I'd be "Rip it out - but just keep that cooker hood - as that might be okay" about it. The kitchen doesnt look like it's had the slightest bit of "planning" about it.
Wasn't that an air freshener too in that bathroom?. Associates air fresheners with "dud houses - now repossessed".0 -

Yuk!
Duh - why? In what is basically an attractive city...
I now think "Well there are houses there that represent even more of a challenge than mine does to 'turn them attractive' ".
Hmm....plants/plants and more plants and paint - and my head still hurts...particularly with other "uglies" attached.
Steps have got to come out - they're concrete....hmmm...0 -

This reminds me of an Armed Forces Barrack Block !0 -

If I'm right, that's just yuck !0 -
It's the pipe leading to the toilet from the overhead cistern - you can just see the bottom of it in the picture.0
