I dislike the way the BBC has started using 'ahead of' instead of the perfectly adequate word 'before'.
Yes, and we'll probably hear more of it 'going forward,' rather than 'in (the) future.'0 -
Grammar is the least of my concerns with words - since my recent move to elsewhere in the country. It gets really confusing when people refer to "the Government" and the conversation goes on for several minutes (whilst I'm picturing the Government and talking accordingly) until the point where things "don't add up" and the conversation has gone really confused and either I realise they are talking about the Welsh Assembly or they realise I'm talking about the Government.
Hence I don't tend to bother myself too much about grammar these days - as that's small fry in comparison:rotfl:0 -
^ My part-Welsh OH just laughs (or seethes) when the words 'Scottish' & 'Government' are consecutive. He wants the phrase 'English funded' placed ahead of (or before) them for accuracy.0

I would find it equally odd to hear (whoops...I cant actually recall its name...ahem) called the "Scottish Government".
I've realised there are 3 titles for the Welsh Assembly:
- the Welsh Assembly (the one I use)
- the Welsh Assembly Government
- the Government
and if either of the last 2 titles are used then I realise they will be calling the Government the "UK Government".
Oh my head hurts....0 -
I had to smile when i read the description on this one http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-41886987.html
The last bit of the description readsTo the rear is a patio area with garden laid to lawn and access to outside wc. No chainI try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -

Now that's not a bad house for a "starter" one imo.
What I would regard as its biggest problem from the look of those photos is how to deal with the privacy aspect from that kitchen window (made worse by viewing satellite dishes).
I'd investigate buying it for a "starter" and stand there at the kitchen window wondering how to block out neighbours view into my kitchen and how to get shot of the satellite dishes (or at least block them from view).
Hmmm. neighbours being able to look over into back garden from 1st floor is a problem too - so few hundred £s more to buy very mature trees to plant in line of view.0 -

He'd be pretty wrong then. Do you imagine Scottish people don't pay taxes? Not buying unnecessary toiletries 2024 26/53 UU, 25 IN0
