  • Agree, it's blooming hideous

If spending £4m though you would most likely think nothing of ripping it all out and starting over. When DH was in interior design he did some work for people that had bought a very expensive, newly renovated house in Surrey. The first thing the builders were instructed to do was rip out a brand spanking Clive Christian kitchen (£100k+) and throw it in the skip!!! I'm still convinced the builders later spirited away and sold it on.......

    Very probably.

I've even seen kitchen units that are obviously both cheap and old being re-fitted into someone else's house - and would be willing to bet that the building firm in a previous house had "made a kind offer" to "take those units off your hands mate and dispose of them" - but not given the owner anything for them.

That house could potentially be quite nice. I'm surprised they didnt do obvious presentation things like not having one of the photos revealing a car bang outside the window (even if it is probably theirs - but obviously the question would arise as to whether a neighbour was able to park bang outside in your view). Also having those photos of the back garden further on in the sequence - ie before you've seen the rest of the house and thought "B..o...ring....and needs a lot of work". Even putting that kitchen first - when it's a cheap/boring/old-fashioned style one - which surprised me rather in a more "character" house like that.

I once made the mistake of buying a black car of a type used a lot for taxis.

After the third person had climbed in and issued instructions as to where I should go, I thought that car and I would probably be having a short relationship. Once five drunks had persuaded me to drive them to an estate in a very dodgy area of Swindon, I knew it, for sure!

OK this is going OT but it's sunny.....a friend back in the 90s bought an actual London taxi (that was after owning an ex-ambulance). He said he enjoyed giving the finger to people flagging him down but after getting fed up with people just trying to get in, he bought a hearse.

    Didn't have problems after that.

The window looks out onto the drive. The car is parked on the drive. Would be a positive to me that I can see my car is safe on my drive.

I'd hazard a guess that the photo is primarily aimed to show that two car parking is possible.

Ah...I see....and the EA figures more people will want to "check on their car" than would think "Cars are amongst the stuff to hide out of sight - as eyesores". Got it...

Err....no. The EA probably wanted to demonstrate visually that two car parking is possible. Otherwise, why leave the garage door open?

Most couples buying a rural house in that price bracket would wish to park two cars close to the house.

You wouldn't happen to be my neighbours would you? The ones we're not allowed to park opposite as apparently our cars are ugly, and they would rather look at the fence! :rotfl:

    I'm on a roll tonight.

Plenty of off-road parking with this one.

Looks like it was a pub and they've not idea what to do with the pub part, so they've just left a giant empty space.

Seems pubs are difficult spaces to convert - once a pub always a pub.

Why don't they put some walls back up?

With me, it's the other way around.

I put my high-top van where it is, not only because I want to see the view, but also because contemplating my neighbours' scrap commode, walking frame and spent gas canisters makes me feel a tad unwell!

Yes, I will landscape and plant, but right now, my shed on wheels is doing a fine job. :D
