Witchford cambs £500k sutton road
Only thing I can see is that the gable end is new, it doesn't show on Google satellite view but it does on Bing : https://binged.it/29xf3Ka
You're gonna have to tell us.....
Genius! You'd never guess it was a bog-standard 2 up 2 down. The colours are a bit much for me but the design of it all is outstanding.Give a man a fish, and you'll feed him for a day.
But give a man a fishing rod, and he'll sell it and buy alcohol.0 -

Quite a nice house - but the thing that would put me off is knowing the vendor is someone who doesnt seem to look at things logically. It was logical to ask to replace the gates with electric ones (as it bothers him so much to get in or out of his car for literally a few seconds). It was equally logical for the other house-owners to refuse (as that might mean their gate was no longer theirs). But to go to all that trouble and expense through the courts to try and force the issue - just for the sake of saving those few seconds a couple of times daily or so = huh????
As a potential buyer - I would be wondering how illogical the vendor was generally and wondering if he might "cut off his nose to spite his face" in the course of selling the house.0 -

As I read it the vendor offered to put up electric gates and his neighbour (said to be living in a bungalow) refused.
However, I certainly wouldn't want to be living next door to people who would resort to padlocking someone else's gate open. You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0 -
I think it's Mr and Mrs Padlockthegatesopen who are the vendors. I think I'd be happy to live next door to Mr and Mrs Keepthegatesclosed. It's really a question of who is the pettiest. I'd probably have taken bolt cutters to the padlock rather than legal action, but the remedies are limited when dealing with @rseholes.
Interestingly I have a friend in a very similar position. Next door have a right of access via her gates and want them kept open permanently. When she had small children she insisted on keeping them closed; now they are no longer small, she keeps them closed as a matter of principle.
Edited to add: I thought it was a nice property, but looking at the floor plan am I right in thinking that there is no family bathroom? Just the en suite?0 -

Yep vendors were padlocking gate open & likely to be awful to deal with. Neighbours likely to be not that much better as they let it get as far as it did. Vendor owns the driveway, court has decided that gate & gate posts belong to neighbours. Judge pointed out that a £5k set of remote control gates would solve the issue; they are still manual gates.
Layout of house is rubbish but it was viewed with the idea of building over both sides and completely reconfiguring internally0
