I can quite understand Contessa saying she likes the idea of astroturf - although it's not to my taste - as mowing a huge lawn can be a pita (our last one used to take me several hours!), but no plants whatsoever in that place seems a bit sad.
Mind you a house near us has just come on the market with not only astroturf, but faux hedging too
Agreed. I think barren gardens look awful. Imo it's always possible to at least put a few huge architectural plants in nice pots.
It does take quite a bit of work and money thrown at it to transform a barren garden totally (tell me about it... - as that's what I'm in process of doing). But - that few pots even helps....
Not that that will change the house itself from being a "Mygawd do I HAVE to? Is that all I can afford?:( type house".
But gardens can make quite a difference to a "Mygawd! Must I?" house.0 -

During the course of looking for a property, I learned that horsey people are to be avoided at all costs, especially horsey people who haven't enough money to be properly horsey in the first place.
This one is a good example of why I felt like that:

Of course, when I actually bought a property, it was from.....err......horsey people!0 -

You decide!
I remember when my HS&L was decorated exactly like that (brighter colours though):D
It was already out of fashion when I painted over it prior to moving ten years ago.You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0 -

Whew! Well - it could be charming with a LOT of money thrown at it.
At least it's one step up from the looroll house (which was so bad that my very first question to the EA would have been "What's wrong with the vendor? Do you know what the diagnosis is?").0 -

Looks like you pay them £5K then a monthly rent of £160 ish for the foreseeable future. Sounds weird.0
